TOTTENHAM v SOUTHAMPTON, Sunday 23rd March. 13:30, Sky Sports 1

Those fascinated by the battle for mid-table slots will no doubt be delighted by the live game selection this Sunday by Sky, for the rest of us well it is not so exciting. This is the equivalent of one of those games in the Olympics between teams knocked out in the quarter-finals.

Tottenham are the 5/4 (GENERAL) favourites for the game as they look to continue a run of five victories from their last eight at White Hart Lane. The North London side though have won just one of their last seven against sides in the top half of the table and come here on the back of three losses and a draw from their last four games. In addition Spurs have lost three of their last four after a Europa League game and so they represent poor value.

I like the look of the visitors Southampton who were as excellent as Norwich were abject in their 4-2 victory over them last weekend. Saints have now won their last two games and three of their last five away from home. They have been decent away from home this season against top half sides, avoiding defeat in three of their last six. Those who want to back Southampton can get 31/10 (BETVICTOR) and 12/5 (GENERAL) the draw. I recommend taking both results (the draw and a Southampton victory) in the double chance market.

In addition I like the chances of Jay Rodriguez in the anytime scorer market. The Saints frontman has netted in his last two and was a real handful for Norwich last weekend. Tottenham have a number of injuries at the back and the Saints man can net here. RECOMMENDATIONS: Southampton/draw double chance, 4/5 (BETVICTOR)
Jay Rodriguez to score at anytime, 13/5 (888 SPORT/unibet)

ASTON VILLA V STOKE, Sunday 23rd March, 16:00, SKY SPORTS 1

The two Midlands sides do battle at Villa Park in a game between two sides who should have enough about them to stay up. Both sit in the middle of the table (10th and 11th) with 34 points and will look confirm safety sooner rather than later.

Villa are the 6/5 (GENERAL) favourites for the game and they come into the match in good form with victories in their last two home games against Norwich and Chelsea. The six points has come at the right time though you still would not be wanting to side with Paul Lambert and his team at this price with just five wins from their last 15 home games in the league.

Stoke though are not exactly the kind of opposition that scream must bet away from home with no win from their last 13 Premier League away games. That being said though the Potters have drawn two of their last three away games and this to finish all square is a 5/2 (betfair SPORTSBOOK) chance while Stoke are 11/4 (bet365/SPREADEX).

Those looking for a bet on the game could do worse than look at the goalscorer markets which is headed by Christian Benteke who is 9/2 (GENERAL) to grab the opener. The Villa frontman grabbed two against Norwich in the penultimate home game. At a bigger price I like the chances of Peter Odemwingie who has three in the last five games and has to be worth an interest against a Villa side often exposed to pace at the full-back slots.

RECOMMENDATION: Peter Odemwingie to score first, 9/1 (GENERAL)
Peter Odemwingie to score anytime, 7/2 (paddy Power/SPREADEX)
