Getting the better of Everton away from home this morning would see Manchester United move into second position in the Premier League. The Red Devils currently sit in fourth in the top tier of English football, two points behind Manchester City and just one behind Arsenal. Recording a win over Everton would see United shoot into second with Arsenal to play Chelsea later on this afternoon. Prior to this game, Louis van Gaal`s club would move to within eight points of league leaders Chelsea should they take down the Toffees.

Whilst it would of course be disappointing, a defeat would not mean so much to United in terms of movement in the league. Fifth placed Liverpool`s draw against West Bromwich Albion yesterday means that they are a massive seven points short of United`s total. This gap would remain should Everton get the better of the Champions League hopefuls.

A big enough win for Roberto Martinez`s men would send the Blues into the top 10 for what seems like a lifetime. The Merseyside club currently sit in 12th in the Premier League and whilst any sort of win would send them above Crystal Palace, indeed even a draw would see them usurp the London club, a victory by two or more goals would see Everton also supersede 10th placed West Ham United.

Like their opponents this morning, the gap between themselves and the club immediately below them in the league means that even a heavy defeat would not see them fall behind 13th placed West Brom.

These two clubs last met at Old Trafford in the reverse Premier League tie back in October. It was the hosts that got the victory on this occasion with United hitting two goals to Everton`s one. Only one goal was bagged in the whole of the first half, that coming from United`s Angel Di Maria.

The visitors managed to level up just 10 minutes after the restart with Steven Naismith heading home. This parity lasted for a mere seven minutes however, as Radamel Falcao hit the last goal of the match to secure their 2-1 home win.

All of betfred, Betvictor, ladbrokes and william hill have the best price of 9/1 on United winning by two goals to one once again. Whilst Di Maria is a 10/1 (ladbrokes) shot break the deadlock this morning, most bookmakers have 6/1 on Falcao scoring the last goal of the match. The trio of betfred, Coral and william hill have the best price of 10/11 on both teams hitting the back of the net at some point during the 90 minutes.

Despite their away disadvantage, Manchester United`s superior league position means that they are the favourites to take all three points from today`s clash. Almost all established bookies are offering this best price of 11/10 on an away win this afternoon. Supporters of the underdog can get 29/10 (Numerous) on a home upset whilst a tie is up for grabs at 5/2 (betfred, boylesports, Totesport).

The Goodison Park outfit are unbeaten in all of their last four games in the Premier League since being knocked out of Europe by Dynamo Kiev. Martinez`s men have picked up 10 points from a maximum of 12. Despite this, today`s hosts have only scored more than one goal on one occasion in these last four matches and they can be backed at 1/3 (Numerous) to score under 1/5 goals again against United.

United`s 1-0 defeat against Chelsea last time out ended their run of six Premier League victories. This good string of form saw van Gaal`s men hit 15 goals past their opponents, Wayne Rooney the top scorer in this period with four goals. It`s 9/5 should you think he will add to his tally at any time this afternoon.
