Go under at Carrow Road and go over at Craven Cottage

Premier League

A bet on fewer than three goals in the match between Norwich and Liverpool at Carrow Road is the best punt available on Saturday`s eight-match English Premier League program.

The Canaries have not scored more than one goal in any of their five English Premier League games this season and they could only manage a meagre total of three goals in their English Capital One Cup home victories over third-tier Doncaster and Scunthorpe. They are set for a long, hard fight against the drop out of the English top flight.

The Reds have scored only four goals in their five English Premier League matches, including just one in their two games away from Anfield. Brendan Rodgers rung the changes for their English Capital One Cup match at The Hawthorns in which they came from 0-1 down to win 2-1 but the usual big names are likely to be on his teamsheet for their league date at Carrow Road, names who have struggled to click.

Four of Norwich`s five English Premier League games have gone under 2.5 goals - the exception being its 0-5 thrashing at Fulham on the opening day of the season - while three of Liverpool`s matches have gone under that particular line.

According to bookmakers, the probability of the Carrow Road game featuring fewer than three goals is less than the probability of the Reds returning to Merseyside with three points. That does not sound right. Back under 2.5 goals at around evens and ignore Liverpool at odds-on prices.

If one is looking for goals then bypass the Carrow Road match and head to Craven Cottage where Fulham will entertain defending English Premier League champion Manchester City.

And one means entertain. The Cottagers have rewarded overs punters in each of their five English Premier League games this term and both of their meetings with the Citizens in the latter`s title-winning campaign went over as well.

Manchester City is unbeaten in the English Premier League this season but Roberto Mancini is worried about his team`s defensive structure, saying that it is really not working as it should. The Etihad Stadium side has not kept a clean sheet in any of its eight competitive matches, giving away at least two goals in half a dozen of those games.

One can get odds of around 5-6 that Craven Cottage attendees witness more than two goals. A bet on the 2.5 goals line being exceeded makes much more appeal than one on the Citizens, who are trading at around 5-6 as well.

In terms of a straightforward match bet, Newcastle is the pick of the prices at around 6-4 to beat Reading at the Madejski Stadium as the Toon Army marches south.

The Magpies have rewarded their manager, Alan Pardew, with an incredible eight-year contract and, while they may live to regret their generosity someway down the track, there is little doubt that the former Wimbledon midfielder is doing an excellent job of reestablishing them as a major force.

Bookmakers are underrating Newcastle every bit as much as they are overrating Liverpool so snap up the odds of 6-4 about Pardew`s team rolling the Royals, who were nowhere near good enough to stop mid-table Tottenham leaving the Madejski Stadium with maximum points a fortnight ago.
