Arsene Wenger said before the Montpellier game that the next few games would be a true test of how far his side have come and it seems so far so good. Arsenal gained all three points in their opening Champions League before getting a point at the Etihad (the least they deserved). Now comes a home game with Chelsea and bookmakers make them a 5/4 (Totesport/betfred/Coral) chance for all three points while the draw is 88/35 (pinnacle) and the away win is 49/18 (pinnacle). Other than Juventus (which they struggled through) Chelsea have yet to really be tested and this looks like by far their toughest game yet. I think the home side look a better balanced side and appeal at these prices. Those who wanted the extra cover could always take them at 8/13 (ladbrokes) on the draw no bet market as the best I can see Chelsea doing is grabbing a point.

The tea-time kick-off on Saturday is another mouthwatering prospect as Man United play host to Tottenham. The Red Devils are 8/13 (Bodog) for all three points. Utd have not lost any of their last 22 Premier League games against Tottenham. The bad omens do not end their for Tottenham as Utd possess a number of players with a great scoring records against them. Ryan Giggs (5/1 with william hill to score anytime) has netted ten career goals against Tottenham, Rooney (15/8 to score anytime with Stan James) has scored seven in his last eight Premier League games against them while Robin Van Persie (11/10 to score anytime with Stan James) has scored five in his last six versus them. The bet I like is the 11/10 (Stan James/BWin/Coral) on the second half being the highest scoring. This would have paid in five of the last seven Man Utd games and in six of the last seven for Spurs.

Sunday has just one live Premier League game which is a Midlands derby as Aston Villa take on West Brom. Villa were hammered at Southampton last week though did beat Man City in midweek in the League Cup. Villa are the 6/4 (general) favourites though I can not be having that price on a team who have won just one of their last 15 Premier League games. The Baggies have had a great start to the campaign and currently lie fourth in the table. They may have some supporters at 28/13 (Pinnacle) though it does not appeal to me. The bet I would recommend is Romelu Lukaku at 8/1 to score first (Bwin) or 5/2 (Stan James) to score anytime. The young Belgian is expected to lead the line once more and scored against Reading last weekend. If Villa thought Rickie Lambert was tough they should wait until they face Lukaku.

Monday night football returns Monday night (appropriately enough). This one features a London derby as QPR take on West Ham. QPR have a had a horrible start to the season though bookmakers think this could be where they pick up their first three points. It is 22/19 (Pinnacle) a home win while the draw is 29/12 (Pinnacle). The Hammers have won none of their last eight at Loftus Road and are 11/4 (general) for victory here. The bet may be to take the 6/1 (Stan James) on Bobby Zamora to score first or 2/1 (Stan James) at anytime. The former Hammers front-man has scored all three of Rangers goals in the Premier League this season and from just four shots on target.
