Premier League preview and odds: Hull City vs Chelsea

October 01 , 2016 15:00pm - KCOM Stadium

Premier League

Fresh off the back of a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Liverpool, Hull City will look to get their Premier League season back on track when they welcome a Chelsea side who are winless in three to the KCOM Stadium on Saturday.

Hull City sinking fast

After flying out of the blocks at the start of the season, with two straight wins at home to Leicester City and away to Swansea City, newly-promoted Hull City have since floundered, picking up just one point from their last five fixtures.

As a result, their league position is now more in line with pre-season expectations when they were tipped by many as relegations candidates. With just four points now separating them from the drop zone, the Tigers will be hoping to take somethings from this weekend`s meeting with the 2014/15 Premier League champions.

Chelsea have failed to win any of their last three Premier League outings and come into this game on the back of consecutive defeats to Liverpool at home (1-2) and Arsenal away (3-0). Their poor run of form has seen them drop to ninth in the league table with six games played.

The Blues` only away win in the league this term came against Watford and they will be hoping to improve that statistic when they travel north to face the Premier League newcomer this weekend. Expectations will be high as rivals Manchester Unitd and Arsenal have already claimed victories at the KCOM Stadium this season.

Team news

Hull City`s injury problems continue with Brian Lenihan, Greg Luer, Alex Bruce, Moses Odubajo, Michael Dawson and Allan MacGregor all out of action.

Meanwhile, Marco van Ginkel, John Terry and Kurt Zouma are still out of action for the visitors.

Betting odds and tips

Hull City had a bright start under the guidance of Mike Phelan but there campaign has hit a sticky patch. While Chelsea have also suffered a wobble in recent weeks, their only defeats have come against sides in the top four.

After a tough schedule featuring back-to-back games against two title contenders, a return to winning ways should be expected for Antonio Conte`s men.
