Champions League

After an opening day defeat to main group D rivals Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal have what seems like the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways in the UEFA Champions League with a home tie against Turkish club galatasary.

Arsene Wenger was disappointed to lose in the manner that Arsenal did in Dortmund two weeks ago and the Gunner`s European form has not been good of late. Having only won one of their last six Champions League games, Wenger will be looking at this game as a means to improve that record and galatasary certainly look like the ideal opposition for Arsenal to be able to do this. By defeating another Turkish club, Besiktas, in the qualifying round, Arsenal have won five and drawn four of their European fixtures against Turkish opposition, keeping a clean sheet in all but one of those nine matches. This makes the 9/5 being offered by betfred for Arsenal to win the game to nil very tempting indeed.

In contrary to Arsenal`s good defensive record, Galatasary have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their last 14 Champions League games, a statistic that will make pleasurable reading for Arsenal`s forward players. New striker Danny Welbeck, sure to start the match with Olivier Giroud still missing through injury, will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing the Istanbul based outfit and can be backed at 9/2 with bet365 to open the scoring. With Arsenal looking to bounce back from their poor performance at Dortmund, Wenger will want his team to take the game to Galatasary and hopefully overcome their -2 current goal difference in the group. The Gunners are 12/1 with BetVictor to win the game 3-0 and successfully over turn that minus goal difference. With goals the order of the day for Arsenal, Alexis Sanchez will want to boost his goal tally for his new club and is 13/10 to score in the match at any time at bet365.

Galatasary will be hoping that the loss of some key Arsenal players will give them the chance to improve their dismal record playing in England. Only managing to draw their opening group fixture at home to Anderlecht, a game they will have been looking to win, the Turkish club are already facing an uphill task to qualify from the group. Having never won an away game against an English club, Galatasary will be delighted to come away from the match at the Emirates with a point and will be hoping that the loss of key midfield players Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey has a negative impact on Arsenal. Galatasary can be backed at 7/2 with SkyBet to get the draw. To be able to come away with at least a point from the game, Galatasary will no doubt have to score at least once at the Emirates and their goal scorer from the opening round of fixtures, Burak Yilmaz, is 4/1 with boylesports to score any time during the match with Dutch set-piece taker Wesley Sneijder available at 9/2 with bet365 to do the same.

Despite a disappointing home draw in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend and a poor display at Dortmund in their opening game of this season`s Champions League it is difficult to look beyond Arsenal to win this match and they are 4/7 favourites with BetVictor to do just that. Galatasary have not been convincing so far this season under new manager Cesare Prandelli and are priced at 11/2 to become the first Turkish club to win on English soil.

Arsenal are currently 33/1 with betfred to win the Champions League, with Galatasary available at 400/1 to win the competition this season.
