Interim Wolves boss Terry Connor was adamant that despite being effectively eight points adrift of safety with only four games remaining, Premier League survival was still possible after his side scrapped out a 0-0 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

But if Wolves are to have any chance of beating the drop, they will surely have to beat title contenders Manchester City who visit Molineux for the live Sunday action on April 22.

After leaking goals left right and centre for most of the season, Wolves were resolute and plucky if nothing else against the Black Cats however a great deal more will be required in this fixture with City’s attack firing on all fronts following a 4-0 trouncing of West Brom at the Etihad and a 1-6 demolition of Norwich at Carrow Road.

As the pressure mounts on Wolves down at the foot of the table, the heat has seemingly been lifted from second placed City after boss Roberto Mancini declared the Premier League race well and truly over after his team lost 1-0 at Arsenal.

And even after those two resounding wins which have closed the gap on rivals Manchester United to just two points with a derby clash around the corner, the Italian still insists that the Red Devils have the title sewn up.

Of course, everyone knows exactly what Mancini’s game is and it is clear that his primary objective is to remove the shackles which appeared to hold City down upon surrendering their long time lead at the top.

His tactics do, nevertheless, seem to be working wonders and all is well again at the club following the return proper of Carlos Tevez who has silenced the critics with four goals in his last two matches.

The Argentinian’s lengthy absence from the side may well be the damaging factor which ultimately knocked City out of kilter but with attitudes now changed and differences forgiven, the blue half of Manchester looks certain to throw everything behind the final few games of the campaign.

Mario Balotelli has also been described by many as a potential trouble causer within the squad and an overall detriment towards the flow and morale of the team.

With a rejuvenated and determined Tevez now back in the starting eleven and Balotelli out with a ban, City are shaping up as the force they were throughout the first half of the season.

Wolves will hardly be relishing this contest and their 73 goals against tally looks certain to increase in the face of Tevez, Aguero and co.

It is Man City’s fairly nondescript away form which has let them down in comparison to their near 100% record at the Etihad but these two clubs are simply in a different league in terms of quality and that notion is set to be confirmed with a Wolves relegation at the end of the ninety minutes.

The 4/11 about the visitors will hardly make the majority of punters rich however in the grand scheme of things it is an excellent price which should be the banker of all trebles and small accumulators over the footballing weekend.
