I was interested in some of the comments in the earlier thred. A few points though:
1. Freezing does not kill bacteria, it merely puts it to sleep. When the food is defrosted the bacteria resumes its activity. Only cooking or salting kills bacteria. With Fresh beef that's usually OK, but Pork and Chicken routinely harbour harmful bacteria such as salmonella. Pork in particular hosts Trichinella spiralis, a parasite which causes a rather nasty disease. That's why it's not Kosher, beacuse people used to drop dead from eating it in hot climates!
2. Every animal carcass is inspected in the UK, so worms won't be a problem. This is not the case in Europe, which is why their lavatories have shelves for your stools to sit on, (your supposed to examine your stools for worms).
