Best advice is to look after your hands, wrap them up, use gloves etc. and also get a trainer who can see where you're going wrong mate.

Repetition, repetition, repetition...

Sounds boring but it's the absolute best way, and stick to the basics.  Do nothing but a jab and straight right for your first few goes, drill them 1000 times each and then add a new punch, before you know it you'll be doing the whole set and everything will have perfect form.  Much the same as weight lifting, I lifted nothing but the bar when I first started and built up slowly and I always have perfect form now even when maxing out, the same applies to boxing in my opinion.

'Fear the man who has a kick he has practiced 1000 times, not the man with 1000 kicks.'

...and remember shadow boxing will improve your technique, much more important than bag work as your power comes initially from form, after your form in perfected you can slog away at the bag as much as you like and you'll never have sloppy form.

Also make sure when building power keep your hands high and punch from shoulder height, not you chest, you'll get more power.  Breth out when you punch.  Solid base gives solid punches, your power starts from your feet, then your wait, then snap your arm out and back, never over-extend yourself and keep a good stance, never let your legs go close together and most importantly - FOCUS - concentrate on every punch and treat it as if it's the last you'll ever be able to throw.

www.rossboxing.com I believe, just look up Ross Enamait. I'm not sure if he has the boxing stuff on his site anymore: it may help with your quest for a sixpack at any rate.
