...and remember shadow boxing will improve your technique, much more important than bag work as your power comes initially from form, after your form in perfected you can slog away at the bag as much as you like and you'll never have sloppy form.
Also make sure when building power keep your hands high and punch from shoulder height, not you chest, you'll get more power. Breth out when you punch. Solid base gives solid punches, your power starts from your feet, then your wait, then snap your arm out and back, never over-extend yourself and keep a good stance, never let your legs go close together and most importantly - FOCUS - concentrate on every punch and treat it as if it's the last you'll ever be able to throw.
