I agree with the comments, lack of warning A3 closure and appalling diversions. As a Nurse coming off her night shift trying to get to Petersfield Tues eve 10 Feb, I ended up having to speak to Police for advice.

This is the worst example of traffic diversion I have ever encountered. Trying to get from Havant to Petersfield I finally (after about 3 circles ) got home via the dark narrow lanes through Finchdean and Buriton, but was only able to do it because I knew the area. Not sure what I would have done if I’d been an HGV. I work for DfT but was ashamed to have anything to do with the Highways Agency last night.

Twice I have fallen of foul of this idiotic diversion system. Last night, having been sent absolutely miles by totally inadequate signs, I decided to use the M3 to get home to Woking at midnight, only to find this was closed as well! This is irresponsible behaviour by the Highways Agency.

i CAN ONLY AGREE WITH THE OTHER COMMENTS. THIS LATE NIGHT DIVERSION IS A COMPLETE JOKE. THE SIGNS IF EXISTING ARE RUBBISH.

What an absolute joke!! I could not get on at Horndean junction. Followed diversions through Purbrook and finally lost them completely and ended up en route to Gosport!!! I work nights for network Rail and we have to be clear of the line by 5am latest to ensure passengers are not affected on their morning commute. If we ran the railway the way these people run the roads, there would be an uproar!! Your diversion routes are poorly thought out and not clearly signposted. What a bunch of idiots you all are!! Not happy!!

A 15 minute journey normally, it has just taken me an hour to get home. NO details about where A3 is closed to, diversions UNCLEAR and sending me past 2 junctions in the wrong direction before I turned off and decided to use Sat Nov (a dangerous choice given the unpredictability of my phone and the back - of - beyond nature of the ensuing journey!) A very scary journey home and absolute nonsense on this site claiming no planned works.

There was no clear traffic diversion signs ,from Portsmouth all diversion signs to roads onto the A3M closed and sent you on the same diversion in the another direction . No signs on the M27 to say follow route to may be chichester then via the Midhurst road or even via Fungington or west/east Ashling , We had no map or sat nav of the area . Over 2 hours a convoy following each other like lost sheep . An old lady was crying a guy from Manchester not a clue a guy had a map we followed him ROAD CLOSED , and we took the diversion off the A3M THREE times !!!!! The road was due to open at 6am we found 2 men in a van haveing a kip and at last found another 2 men awake outside the truck who literally slung the signs and kicked the cones like children . The persons blocking the roads of was CHEVERON . We got home at 6 am a 40 min drive ,
