Class Structure
The forms of the Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung fu are extremely powerful. Each form has a specific theme that simulates a variety of different confrontational conditions. For more information about the Seven Star Praying Mantis style and its history please go to the International Taijiquan and Shaolin Wushu Association web site or www.leekamwing.co.uk.
A combination of different techniques is used in each form and different stances are emphasised. The forms promote fast reaction times, an increase in physical strength, co-ordination and flexibility.
Each set of movements in a form are then broken down into applications. These applications give the true meaning of what the forms are all about and thus though repetition, develop and constantly improve your defensive capabilities and natural reaction. They cover every combat range, coordinating your body to move with harmony and efficiency against one or multiple opponents.
Within the class there is a strong emphasis on physical development and mental preparation. Each class is generally structured as follows: half the class is dedicated to stamina, strength, conditioning and stretching routines. The other half is forms, applications, drills, sparring, breathing techniques and feedback.
You are taught according ability and level. No two students are the same and hence a individual attention is given as deemed necessary.
