Brampton Lawn Tennis Club (London)

Club Rules

Please note the following Rules and other key information concerning tennis play - full Rules are on display in the Clubhouse.

SUBSCRIPTIONS
Subscriptions are due on 1st April. Any subscriptions not paid by the 1st May may be subject to a 10% surcharge (Rule 4). New members are normally charged a £20.00 entrance fee (Student £15.00) in addition to their first year's subscription.

DRESS
The Club has an existing rule that “All visible items worn while playing shall be predominantly white tennis clothes”. Coloured track suits & sweaters have been permitted. However, last year the Committee decided to trial the use of allowing coloured shorts or skirts and this relaxation is continuing for the current season. Heavily ridged track shoes, shoes with heels or black soles are not allowed, as they can potentially damage or mark the courts.

TIMES OF PLAY
The Club has five “Emerald” all-weather courts. Full and Student members - may play at any time except when Juniors have priority (Wednesday late afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings from April to October). Off-peak members - may not play on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays before 5.30pm. Midweek members - may not play at any time on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays. The only exception is to play in the annual Handicap tournament, normally held between September and April, which is open to all Club members.

SOCIAL EVENTS
The Club organises regular social events during the year for members and their guests. Please look at the noticeboard or website for details.

NEW MEMBERS
According to Rule 10, there is a ten day interval between acceptance and becoming a member. During that time, an applicant may play but any member may lodge an objection (in writing to the Hon. Secretary) to the applicant's membership. Members are entitled to a club-house key (deposit £2.00). Please make sure the club-house is secure before you leave. Tennis balls are provided; five boxes of balls should be on the counter behind the bar (one set of four per court). Please make sure they are returned after play. Please also note that the Club can only guarantee the quality of the tennis balls for organised Club play. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THERE IS NO SMOKING IN THE CLUBHOUSE.

VISITORS
Members are responsible for seeing that their visitors are signed into the visitors' book and that the fee for a playing guest (2008 - £3.00 weekdays and £5.00 weekends and Bank Holidays) is paid to a committee member. No person may visit the Club more than 5 times in a season (they should become a member!). Members should not bring more than 3 guests at a time.
