Fountain of Youth

Tales of a magical Fountain of Youth have been told for centuries. The water of this legendary spring supposedly restores the youth of anyone who drinks it. The Greek historian Herodotus first wrote of the fountain in the 5th century BCE, and the Spanish explorer Ponce de León was reportedly searching for it when he ventured to what is now Florida in 1513. Today, there is an archaeological park in St. Augustine, Florida that goes by this name.

Fans of online casinos like Bet365 will also discover that the Fountain of Youth is a slot game developed by software maker Playtech. Borrowing from legends of old, its display screen portrays a circular fountain hidden in a verdant glade of ivy, lilies and ferns. There, blues waters bubble up endlessly and sparkle in the fresh air as butterflies pass overhead. It’s certainly one of the most tranquil settings ever created for gaming action.

The format for Fountain of Youth also harks back to an earlier age; it has just three reels and three horizontal paylines. Coin denominations range from €0.01 to €5.00, and the value can be easily adjusted by using the +/- toggles adjacent to the bet indicator at the lower left of the screen

Only a single credit can be played per payline. The lines are selected by clicking on the “Bet One” button on the control panel below the reels. Clicking on Bet Max will apply a single credit wager to each of the three paylines, but it does not change the denomination of each credit. The maximum total wager is €15 per spin, and the reels are set in motion by clicking either “Spin” or “Bet Max.”

At the top right side of the display window is the game’s Paytable. There are just six possible winning combinations to look for. Catching a random mix of any three symbols on an active payline will award 4 credits. Three White Lily symbols in a row will pay 30 credits, three Green Frogs will pay 60 credits and three Blue Birds will pay 125 credits. Catching three Orange Butterflies in sequence is worth 250 credits.

The highest payouts are made for winning combinations of Fountain symbols. On the center, they are worth 400 credits, on the upper payline they award 600 Credits and on the lower payline they are worth 800 credits, making the top prize €4,000 when the selected betting denomination is the maximum €5.00.

During play, there are only a few audio-visual effects. As the reels begin to spin, they are accompanied by a chord strummed on a harp. Small wins are greets by a piano fanfare, while large wins get a full orchestral treatment. The winning amount is indicated not only in the Win counter to the right of the reels but also by a flashing yellow-red star beside the winning combination(s) in the Paytable.

For those enjoy using Autoplay to allow the game to spin on its own, Fountain of Youth has a several special features. The toggle to activate Autoplay is located in the pull-down “Tools” menu at the very top right corner of the screen. Clicking on it uncovers the Autoplay control in the lower right corner. The +/- toggles flanking the spins indicator can be used to adjust the number of auto spins desired, else it is possible to type the number directly into the counter for up to 9,999 spins maximum.

More Autoplay options can be revealed by clicking the expanded menu arrows on the left side of the Autoplay display. Limits for “stop loss” and “overall win” are just a couple of the options available. There are also +/- toggles for adjusting the length of the delay between spins to give the player even more control over the game’s pace.
