Great Blue

Take a journey beneath the ocean waves with “Great Blue,” the exciting marine life themed slot game from software developer Playtech. From high-tech graphics and audio to huge payouts, every detail of Great Blue is designed to enthrall players and keep them coming back to the depths of the sea for more.

Great Blue features the ever-popular 5-reel, 25-payline format along with credit denominations from €0.01 to €5.00. Adjust the credit value by using the pop-up menu below the first reel. Choose to play from 1 to 25 paylines with 1 to 10 credits bet per line. Clicking on Bet Max will maximise both the number of lines ad the number of credits wager, but it does not affect the credit denomination selected. The maximum wager is 250 credits or €1,250.

To begin the game, click on “Spin.” Winnings appear under the fifth reel in the “Win” counter, while the current balance appears in the screen’s lower left corner. After each win, the Gamble Feature is enabled to double the amount won by correctly predicting the color of a hidden playing card, red or black. Choosing correctly allows redoubling again and again up to a maximum of €2,500. Otherwise the “Collect” button can used to claim the payout and return to the slot game mode.

The basic symbols on the reels are Playtech’s standard cards, Nines thru Aces, worth line multipliers from 5X to 150X when three or more matches appear in sequence from left to right on an active payline. Catching two matching Nines pays double the line bet. Higher awards are made for catching three or more Fish, Seahorses or Starfish, from 20X to 250X. Two or more Sea Turtles or Sharks are worth from 2X to 750X.

All of the symbols animate when they appear in a winning combination. The Seahorse bucks, the Starfish spin and the Tropical Fish swim by in a school. The Sea Turtle rolls over and over, while the Shark turns to swim away and then returns. Sound effects accompany the graphic action, too.

The mightiest symbol on the Great Blue reels is the Wild Orca, which leaps out of the water when part of a payout. The Wild Orca symbols appear both individually and stacked, making it possible to fill all positions on a reel and substituting for all symbols except the Pearl Scatter. When a Wild Orca takes part in a win, it doubles the value of the payout. Catching 2, 3, 4 or 5 Wild Orcas on an active payline pays 10X, 250X, 2500X or 10000X, respectively.

Catching 2, 3, 4 or 5 Pearl Scatters anywhere on the reels pays a multiplier of the total wager valued at 2X, 5X, 20X or 500X, respectively. When three or more Pearl Scatters are displayed, the Bonus Round is activated. It starts out with 8 free spins with a 2X multiplier, but choosing two out of five sea shells shown on a second screen will reveal additional bonuses up to 33 free games and/or 15X multipliers. During the free spins, the Bonus can be re-triggered by three or more Pearl Scatter, worth 15 extra free spins. There is no limit on the number of free spins that can be won.

Those who like to customise their slot play will appreciate several options that have been built into Great Blue. The Auto Start button below the first and second reels can be used to pre-set up to 99 spins using the +/1 toggles or by typing the desired amount directly into the spin counter. Automated spins continue uninterrupted until either the player presses the stop button or the game reels displays the Scatter Bonus.

There is also a pull-down menu for “Options” that can be accessed by clicking on the “Tools” symbol at the top right of the screen. “Game Settings,” “Audio Settings” and “General Settings” allow the player to disable the game sounds, background sounds or dealer voices. It is also possible to adjust the game speed for normal play or fast play.
