Developed by Betsoft Gaming, “Heist” belongs to the company’s Slots-3 Series of 3D video bonus slots. The game features a 5-reel, 30-payline format with a bank robbery theme. Also available are four different Special Features to add to the adrenaline-fueled action of every spin.

In the opening screen of Heist, two men can be seen in front of an open bank vault, with currency flying through the air in the background. As the game loads, a deep-voiced narrator provides the game’s back story:

“Professional heist man Neil Quailand takes down scores, that`s what he does best. For seven years, every job he’s done has been clean, profitable and without a trail. And for seven years, Detective Albert Kowalski has been one step behind. As Quailand zeros in on the biggest score of his life – a bank vault with an excess of £9 million in cash – Kowalski knows this is his last chance to get his man. In a dangerous world of cat and mouse, only one man will walk away on top—cop or villain—in the Heist.”

The next screen shows the game’s reels, which are designed to look like 15 surveillance monitors as part of a “Vault Security System.” Most of the key controls are located at the bottom of the screen as part of the system’s controls. Suspenseful music plays in the background throughout the game unless disabled by the player using the “Sound” on/off toggle above the first reel.

The coin denomination for the game can be adjusted by clicking directly on the “Choose Coin Bet” indicator in the digital display at the lower left corner, from €0.05 to €1.00. Directly below the third reel are two switches marked “Bet Per Line,” and the “Select Lines.” By clicking directly on the switches, it is possible to set the total Stake from 1 to 5 coins per line on 1~30 paylines up to a maximum of €150. After the Stake has been set, clicking on the red “Spin” button or black “Bet Max” button beneath reel five will set the reels in motion.

The symbols appearing on Heist are familiar items from bank robberies. They include a Stopwatch, Digital Sensor, Blueprints, Handgun, Banknotes, Stock Certificate and Diamonds. These symbols pay line multipliers from 25X to 250X whenever three or more match up on an active payline from left to right. High awards are paid for matching two or more Detective or Thief symbols, from 50X to 300X. Note that there are no wild symbols in this game.

Whenever the C4 Explosive symbol appears in the middle position of the centre reel, the “2X Wild Reel Bonus” is activated. A screen-shattering explosion will turn the entire third reel wild and all payouts involving the Wild Reel will be doubled. Additionally, the Wild Reel may “lock” into position on screen at random for the subsequent spin, again awarding double payouts for winning combinations.

A second Special Feature is the “Scatter Drills Bonus.” It is triggered whenever 3, 4 or 5 Drill symbols show up anywhere on the reels, awarding Total Stake multipliers of 300X, 750X or 1500X, respectively. Meanwhile, catching three or more Glass Cutter symbols on any active payline will trigger the “Glass Cutter Feature.” The Glass Cutters will turn into “Click Me” icons, hiding free spins, bonus credits or instant access to the second screen “Bonus Round.” Note that the reels go into “Lockdown” mode during free spins and all controls are deactivated until the final payout is made.

The Bonus Round is triggered by catching three or more “Vault” icons on an active payline. The player must help the Thief break into a bank vault by selecting one of three methods: cracking the code, drilling in or blowing the door with C4. After the vault has been opened, the Thief will begin collecting money, but the player must again help him by clicking on the red “Escape” button before the Detective shows up. The longer the Thief remains in the vault the more money is collected, but the greater the risk of getting caught. The object is to escape with as much cash possible.
