In 2011, Realistic Games Ltd. expanded its line-up of “Real 2 Reel” games to include “High Rise,” a seemingly classic 3-reel, 5-payline slot with traditional fruit symbols but with a new twist on the Gamble Feature. Like all games in the Real 2 Reel series, High Rise can be operated in either “Full Cabinet” mode, with other slot machines surrounding it as if on a real casino floor, or in “Close-up” mode with only the reels showing on the screen.

The game console has a very authentic 3-D look. Controls are located on a ledge-like panel below the reels, streetlights appear in the reel frame and a tombstone-shaped marquee appears at the top, showing a cityscape made up of tall buildings and the game’s “Gamble Ladder” stretching from zero to the X100 Jackpot on top.

High Rise begins with the player selecting an amount for wagering. This is accomplished by using the up/down arrows next to the “Bet” indicator in the middle of the control panel. Available wagers range from €0.25 to €200. All five paylines are active at all times, three horizontal and two diagonal. Clicking on the “Start” button on the right side of the control panel will set the reels in motion.

The basic symbols on the reels are familiar slot icons and it takes three matches in a row to win a payout, which is a multiplier of the total stake. Lemons, Oranges and Plums pay 5X, Grapes and Strawberries are worth 10X, and Watermelons win 20X. Getting three Bells in a row pays the maximum prize of 100X. There is also a “Full House Bonus” payout of 100X any time all nine of the reel positions fill with the same symbol.

Any winning combination on an active payline will activate the game’s Gamble Feature. As soon as the feature is triggered, the Real 2 Reel function automatically zooms to Full Cabinet mode so that the Gamble Ladder can be seen. The symbols that formed the winning combination will light up, as will a starting multiplier on the Ladder. How high the multiplier starts is a function of how many winning paylines were involved in initiating the bonus opportunity. For one payline, the starting point is 5X, for two it is 10X, for three it is 15X, and so on.

Clicking on the “Take Prize” button on right side of the control panel allows collection of the winnings without taking a gamble on winning more. For those who wish to increase their payout, however, a “Gamble” button appears to the right of the ladder. It is in the center of a wheel divided into six segments: three green ones numbered +1, +2 and +3; and three red ones numbered -1, -2 and -3.

Clicking on Gamble will cause one of the segments to light up at random and the multiplier on the ladder will go up or down as many positions as indicated. At any time, the player may collect a payout by clicking on Take Prize. Otherwise, it is possible to continue clicking on Gamble, raising or lowering the multiplier on the ladder until it reaches the Jackpot or else drops all the way to the bottom where the “Lose” light will come on and the payout is lost.

A special option on High Rise is its Auto Play function. In addition to being able to set the game for up to 1,000 automated spins, it is possible to set the Gamble Feature on Auto Play, too, either collecting the winnings without gambling each time or gambling at every opportunity until the Jackpot is reached.
