“Three of a Kind” is a very simple game in which the object is to match all three cards dealt to a hand with the aid of a draw. But this particular version, which is found on Bet365 and other major Internet gaming sites, adds considerable spice to the mix by allowing the player to wager on up to 100 hands at a time.

Of course, multi-hand card games have been available online for over a decade now, so that’s nothing new. The innovation is that Three of a Kind allows the player to choose the number of hands to play at once—25, 50 or 100—for each and every deal.

The Three of a Kind display features the logo at the very top with a message space directly underneath. The card playing area looks a bit like a billiard table, sporting a green felt surface and a wooden rail, but without the pockets. Across the bottom of the screen are the game’s controls and indicators.

Directly in the centre of the control area is the where the main hand is dealt, It features three card positions with an “Auto Hold” indicator under each one. Above the card positions is a message area that reads, “Ready for the next draw.” To the right is the “Winning Hands” counter and the table of payouts for winning combinations.

Three of a Kind is not played with a standard deck. Instead, it uses only six cards—the 9 of hearts, 10 of clubs, Jack of diamonds, Queen of spades, King of diamonds and Ace of clubs. The payout odds for catching Three of a Kind for each of these are 3X, 5X, 8X, 10X, 25X and 100X, respectively. The values of the payouts listed in the paytable will change according to the amount of the Stake per hand.

On the left side of the control area are the three yellow buttons for choosing the “total Number of Hands to Play.” Selecting “25” will fill the table with a matrix of 24 hands arranged in four rows and six columns to be played with the main hand. Choosing “50” will bring up a 7 x 7 matrix of 49 hands, and clicking on “100” will arrange 99 hands in 11 rows and nine columns.

Using the up/down arrows that flank the “Per Hand” indicator, the Stake can be set at €0.05, €0.10, €0.15, €0.20, €0.25, €0.30, €0.40, €0.50 or €1.00. That makes the maximum possible outlay €100 per deal. The “Total Stake” is indicated just above the green “Deal” button at the lower left corner of the display.

Once the Per Hand bet and the number of hands to play have been selected, clicking on Deal will launch the game of Three of a Kind into action. The upper message space will read “good Luck!” and the lower one will indicate the action being taken—“Draw.” The three card positions in the main hand will shuffle and show three new cards face up and every hand in the matrix on the table will display that same identical three-card hand.

Should none of the cards in the main hand be a match (a pair), the lower message area will display “No match bonus draw.” All of the cards in the matrix as well as the cards in the main hand will flip over, shuffle and be replaced by three new cards drawn at random. Only hands resulting in Three of a Kind are winners. The number of such hands will display in the Winning Hands counter and the upper message space will display “Congratulations! You have won …” followed by the amount of the total payout. The lower message display will read, “Ready for the next draw.”

Should two of the cards in the main hand match on the initial deal, the lower message area will display “Matching cards! Bonus draw.” The Auto Hold indicators below the two matching cards will change to yellow and read “Card Held.” All of the similarly matching cards in the matrix will be held as well and only the unmatched card in each hand will flip over, shuffle and be replaced by a new card drawn at random. Again, any hands resulting in Three of a Kind are winners.

Of course, the biggest prize is won whenever all three of the initial cards in the main hand match to make Three of a Kind. In that case, all cards are held in all hands and the payout is number of hands played times the value of the winning combination. The very top award is €10,000 for catching three Aces on the deal when playing 100 hands at €1.00 per hand.
