Fans of video games will immediately recognise the 5-reel, 50-payline “Worms” slot as an adaptation of the popular PC game by the same name. Many of the sound effects will be familiar, too, as the militant maggots march into battle

Unlike most five reel games, Worms has four position on each reel instead of three. That makes for some very novel win lines, and all 50 of them are active at all times. Instead of selecting an amount to wager per line, the player choose a “Total Bet” value by using the +/- toggles below the first and second reels. The minimum wager is €0.50 and the maximum is €100.

Payouts vary according the total bet. With €1.00 wagered, the basic card symbols, Nines through Aces, are worth from €0.10 to €3.00 for three or more matches on a win line. Four different Work symbols pay from €0.50 to €5.00 when three or more in a row are caught. There is also a stacked Wild Worm that can fill all four of the reel positions and substitute for any symbol except the Bonus Scatter. Catching 3, 4 or 5 wilds pays €1, €4 or €20, respectively. A window completely full of Wild Worms is worth €1,000.

The Bonus Scatter, which looks like a wooden shipping crate, appears only on reels 2, 3 and 4. Whenever all three scatters appear simultaneously in any positions, the Worms Bonus is initiated. The player must chose to open one of three crates to reveal which of two three rounds will be played.

Revealing the Sgt. Major Worm starts the Free Spins Battle with unlimited free spins. The duration of the round is determined by a “Health Meter” on the right side of the screen. Each time a Pirate Worm appears on the middle reel, the value of the Health Meter, which starts at 100, is reduced. When a Medic Worm appears there, the value is increased. The bonus round ends when the value reaches zero.

During the Free Spins Battle, additional Super Stacked Wilds are added to the reels, making winning combinations more frequent. There is also a Sgt. Major symbol on the middle reel and when it appears a bonus cash prize is awarded. Counters at the bottom of the window keep track of Spins Used and the total Bonus Win paid.

Revealing the Cosmo Worm initiates the Space Trail Bonus. A path of asteroids leads to a moon made of cheese. Selecting tool boxes one by one awards moves along the asteroid path, each step worth an increasing multiplier, staring at 5X and ranging all the way up to 1000X. The bonus round ends when a tool box containing a weapon is opened or the moon is reached whichever comes first.

Revealing the Scot Worm starts the Crate Escape Bonus. The player chooses from among eight crates that contain cash prizes, weapons or first aid kits. Weapons reduce the worm’s health, while first aid kits help restore it. Continue playing until the Scot Worm runs out of health or 100 times the bet is won.

The main slot game has an option for automated spins. To access it, click on the “Autoplay” button below the third and fourth reels. Options exist for 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 automated spins or “Until Bonus,” which will continue the effortless spins until the three Bonus Scatters appear. Autoplay can be halted by clicking the red “Stop” button, in which case the counter resets.
