Cool riffs play as the reels spin in front of the dimly lit brick interior of The Jazz Club, Playtech’s popular music-themed slot game. Sit back, relax and enjoy the syncopated rhythm, stiff drinks and neon lighting as the symbols align in winning combinations worth big money when the timing is just right.

The Jazz Club has a 5-reel, 25-payline format. The wagering denominations range from €0.20 to €500 per line, thus making the maximum bet a whopping €12,500 per spin. Wagering values are set by using the controls located beneath the middle three reels.

The basic symbols on the reels Playtech’s traditional cards, Nines through Aces, in glowing neon colours. Matching combinations on active paylines pay multiplies of 5X to 200X, and the winning symbols light up as the payouts are made. Higher awards are paid for two or more Drinks, Treble Clefs, Pianists, Bass Players or Trumpeters. Values paid per winning line range from 2X up to 5000X, and again the symbols animate as the cash piles up.

The Microphone is the wild symbol in The Jazz Club. Appearing only on reels 2, 3 and 4, it substitutes for all symbols except the Jazz Club Logo scatter. There is no special bonus feature for catching all three scatters on the same spin, but the Jazz Club Logo does turn into an “expanding wild” whenever it appears in winning combinations during the Jazz Solo Bonus.

To initiate the Jazz Solo Bonus, three or more Jazz Club Logo scatter symbols must appear anywhere on the five reels. Payouts of 2X, 5X, 20X or 100X are awarded immediately whenever 2, 3, 4 or 5 scatters are displayed. As the Jazz Solo Bonus begins, red velvet curtains close on the main game and reopen to reveal a choice of soloists. Which one will play is up to the player’s choice.

The Bass Player offers 14 free spins with a 2X multiplier. The Pianist will play seven free spins with a 4X multiplier, and the Trumpeter (who has the highest line payouts) offers 10 free spins with no extra multiplier. During the free spins, the symbol of the selected soloist replaces the two symbols that have not been chosen on the free games reels.

Whenever the Jazz Club Logo scatter symbol appears and can be used to form a winning combination, it expands to fill all three positions on the reel. The reel then transforms into a sultry female singer in a hot red dress and she animates as the payout is made. There is some strategy involved in selecting the soloist. More free games means more opportunities to see the female vocalist, but perhaps with lower line payouts. What’s more, although the Jazz Club Logo scatter appears on the reels, the free spins cannot be retriggered during the bonus round.

Those who like to customize their slot play will appreciate the various options that have been built into The Jazz Club. The Autoplay button below the first and second reels can be used to pre-set up to 99 spins using the +/1 toggles or by typing the desired amount directly into the spin counter. Automated spins continue uninterrupted until either the player presses the stop button or the game reels displays the Jazz Solo Bonus.

There is also a pull-down menu for “Options” that can be accessed by clicking on the “Tools” symbol at the top right of the screen. “Game Settings,” “Audio Settings” and “General Settings” allow the player to disable the game sounds, background sounds or dealer voices. It is also possible to adjust the game speed for normal play or fast play.
