ROBERT THORNTON v PETER WRIGHT, Thursday 24th April, 19:15, Sky Sports
Manchester is the location for week 12 of the Premier League Darts and the opening encounter is a battle between two men badly out of form. Peter Wright after a strong start has lost three straight while Robert Thornton has not secured a win since back in week three. Bookmakers make Snakebite the 11/10 (TOTESPORT/betfred/betway) favourite while Thorn can be backed at 15/8 (boylesports/BETVICTOR/paddy Power). Both men are so badly out of form I would not feel comfortable siding with either so instead I recommend an interest on the three dart average of Wright being under 97.5 which has been the case in each of his last four matches that he has played in this event.
RECOMMENDATION: Wright 3 dart average under 97.5, 17/20 (betway/BWIN)
GARY ANDERSON v PHIL TAYLOR, 20:00
The second match of the night is an important battle at the top of the table with both men in the hunt for a top four spot. The Power sits in that vital fourth spot just one point above Anderson with both having played the same number of games. Taylor had a nightmare start losing his first three but since has gone five unbeaten winning each of his last three and can be backed at 4/7 (GENERAL) for victory. Anderson though is no mug and has won three of his last four and odds of 7/2 (GENERAL) are generous as he saw off Taylor week five in Exeter.
The bet is to take Anderson on the handicap with a 2.5 start as the Scot has won at least five legs every week since week three.
RECOMMENDATION: Anderson +2.5 on the Handicap v Taylor, 11/13 (BWIN)
RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD v ADRIAN LEWIS, 20;40
Second meets seventh when Barney takes on Adrian Lewis with the Dutchman on the better form of the pair having gone nine games unbeaten, winning each of his last three. If you think Barney can get both points here then you can back him at 6/4 (boylesports). Lewis meanwhile knows that this is a must win game and he is 7/5 (betway/YOU WIN). I like the both players to win at least five legs offer that betway have as the last time these two met was a draw and it looks like it could be another close one this time.
RECOMMENDATION: Both players to win at least five legs, 11/10 (BETWAY)
MICHAEL VAN GERWEN v DAVE CHISNALL, 21:20
It was a mixed week for Mighty Mike last week as he suffered a loss to Phil Taylor before picking himself up and defeating Adrian Lewis in the final game of the evening. The Dutchman is just 2/5 (GENERAL) to get back to winning ways when he takes on Dave Chisnall in the fourth game of the evening. Chizzy kept his hopes alive with a win last week to make it two victories from his last three and he is 9/2 (BOYLESPORTS/SPORTING BET).
The best bet in this game is in taking Chisnall to come out on top in the most 180s market as he has 13 more than van Gerwen already and the most in the Premier League season so far.
RECOMMENDATION: Chisnall to hit most 180s, evens (GENERAL)
GARY ANDERSON v ROBERT THORNTON, 22:00
Anderson is who the bookmakers expect to come out on top at odds of 10/11 (william hill/SPREADEX). Thorn and the draw meanwhile can both be on your side at 10/11 (BETVICTOR/ladbrokes). Until we see how players perform in their opener though this looks a game to swerve from a betting point of view.
RECOMMENDATION: NO BET
