The Confederations Cup reaches the semi-final stage Wednesday and we have gone the long way round to get the four teams that most expected to reach this stage. Things though should pick up now as we have just four teams left. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from the semi-finals.

Bookmakers make Spain the 23/20 (ladbrokes) favourites to lift the trophy ahead of Brazil at 7/5 (YOU WIN). These two sides have looked head and shoulders above the others. Brazil have struck a real balanace between defensive nous an attacking flair while Spain are just Spain. This is not to say Italy and Uruguay can not spring a shock on their day I just can not bring myself to support them to do so with the Italians missing Mario Balotelli and Uruguay just in the last four because someone has to be. Italy are 12/1 (188 BET) and Uruguay are the 18/1 (188 BET) outsiders with bookmakers making the Brazil/Spain final as short as 4/9 (ladbrokes).

Neymar has been excellent so far and as the poster boy of the 2014 World Cup and he looks value in the playet of the tournament market where ladbrokes are still offering 11/10.

The game Wedneday evening is the battle of the South Americans as Brazil take on Uruguay. Brazil are naturally the 4/11 (GENERAL) favourites as they have won each of their last four games. Four of the last six meetings between these sides has ended drawn and you can get 9/2 (SKYBET) on a 90 minute draw while Uruguay are 9/1 (paddy Power).

Neymar has been on fire this tournament grabbing three goals and is 4/1 (GENERAL) to grab the opener and just 11/10 (ladbrokes) to score anytime. Luis Suarez is the main for goals for Uruguay and he is 3/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred/paddy Power) to score anytime in this game. The best bet in this game could be in siding with goals and in particular goals for the Brazilans. I like the look of Brazil to score over 2.5 goals which is 29/20 (betway). Brazil have scored three or more goals in three of their last four games and the one they did not they grabed two. In addition consider Brazil HT/Brazil FT at 19/20 (SPREADEX) as they have been ahead at HT in all three group games.

Spain take on Italy in the other semi-final in a repeat of the European Championship final a game Spain won with ease. Spain. are 2/5 (GENERAL) favourites to see off an Italian side without Mario Balotelli. Italy can take heart from the fact that final defeat was their only defeat against Spain in the last eight meetings. Italy can be backed for victory here at 8/1 (BETVICTOR) and the draw which has been the result in four of the last eight head-to-heads can be backed at 4/1 (BETVICTOR). Although I expect Spain to win this I think Italy must be chanced at these prices on the Asian Handicap. Italy +1.25 can be backed at 42/41 (188 BET) which pays out full on an Italy win or draw and a half win on an Italy loss by one goal.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Neymar to be player of the tournament, 11/10 (ladbrokes)
SILVER: Italy +1.25 on Asian Handicap v Spain, 42/41 (188 BET)
BRONZE: Brazil to score over 2.5 goals, 29/20 (betway)
