In the first of a regular summer series we will take a look at the latest Football transfers and see how they have affected the outright betting markets for the new season and try identify the value.
Juventus have made one of the moves of the summer in bringing Carlos Tevez to their club. The Argentinian is a goal machine who grabbed 74 goals in 148 appearances for City and will give the Old Lady a new focus in attack. Last season Juventus were immense in defence and classy in midfield but somewhat lacking up front. Tevez will join alongside Spanish forward Fernando Llorente in what should be a potent forward line. The move means that Juventus look good once again for a Serie A title and can be backed at 19/20 (william hill). Also consider backing Juventus in the Champions League market at 18/1 (GENERAL), The Italian side were going well last year before running into Bayern Munich.
The biggest transfer of the summer so far has been Falcao going to Monaco for around 53 millions pounds or 60 millions euros. It is one of three big money moves the French side have made (along with the singings of James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho) and with many more to come they have been well supproted to win the French League at 10/3 (TOTESPORT/betfred). The Champions last season PSG are 1/2 (GENERAL) for a repeat though they have been distracted so far this summer with the loss of Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid.
Another side who have been busy in the transfer market are Barcelona who have wrapped up deals for Neymar and Bojan Krkic while rivals Real have secured a deal for Isco and are being heavily linked with moves for Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale. Barcelona are 3/4 (888 SPORT) to win La Liga while Real are 11/8 (TOTESPORT/betfred/BETVICTOR)
In England Man City have been busy in the transfer market moving on Carlos Tevez and bringing in Fernandinho and Jesus Navaz while being heavily linked with Cavani . City are sure to carry a lot more attacking threat than last season and if they can get another player to put the ball in the net then 12/5 (CORAL) would be great value. Chelsea are also 12/5 (GENERAL) to win the Premier League and their biggest move has been to bring in a new boss in Jose Mourinho. The one player purchase so far for the London side has been in grabbing Andre Schurrie from Bayer Leverkusen for around 20 million.
Staying in England but away from the battle at the top and a number of clubs have been active. Hull City have done some good business so far bringing in Curtis Davies and Maynor Figueroa. If they can secure a goal scorer (Gary Hooper has been linked) then they could survive. SKYBET are offering 5/4 that they stay up and this is worth a little interest as just one of the last six sides promoted have gone straight back down.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Juventus to win the Serie A title 2013/14, 19/20 (william hill)
SILVER: Hull to not be relegated from Premier League 2013/14, 5/4 (SKYBET)
BRONZE: Juventus to win the Champions League, 18/1 (GENERAL)
