League One Bottom Club Yeovil Face Chesterfield

League 1

Yeovil Town look increasingly isolated at the bottom of League One but could take a small step towards safety should they be able to take down Chesterfield at Huish Park tomorrow. Eleven points currently separate the bottom side from Scunthorpe who currently occupy the last safe spot though the Glovers could cut this deficit by three should they record a home win and other results go their way. A failure to win would likely see this gap further open and would put pressure on Terry Skiverton`s men in their remaining six matches of the season.

Things look a whole lot sweeter for Chesterfield who can be found in the last play-off spot, the Spireites one point better off than all of Rochdale, Peterborough and Barnsley. Whilst a failure to beat the league`s bottom club would most likely see them fall out of the top six, a victory away from home could see Paul Cook`s club put a buffer between themselves and these sides, also closing the gap on fifth placed Sheffield United to one point.

These two teams have met once in League One this season, this being the reverse fixture back at Chesterfield`s Proact Stadium. This November match ended as goalless a draw, neither team being unable to break the deadlock in the 90 minutes. Whilst Paul Cook has been the long term manager of Chesterfield, the visitors were still under the reign of former manager Gary Johnson at this time.

Both betfred and Coral have the best price on the game ending goalless once again, this price being 9/1. In opposition betfair have the best price on both teams managing to get themselves on the scoresheet, this being 21/20. The visitors` Byron Harrison is the favourite to break the deadlock, should anyone be able to do it this time round. He can be backed at 6/1 at a variety of bookmakers.

Indeed it is Chesterfield who are the favourites to take all three points from the match despite their away disadvantage. All of betfred, ladbrokes, Totesport and william hill have the best price of 6/5 on an away win. Otherwise, Yeovil can be picked up at 14/5 at boylesports whilst a draw is widely available at a price of 5/2.

The Huish Park outfit are without a point from their last four matches, having only scored one goal in this period. This goal came from James Hayter in their 2-1 defeat away at Rochdale last time out. Hayter can be backed at 13/5 (boylesports) to add to his tally at any time tomorrow. Town have picked up seven points from their last five home games on the other hand, scoring six goals but conceding eight. They have not kept a clean sheet at home since their goalless draw with Coventry back at the end of January. As a result, most bookies are offering the mammoth price of 5/1 on a Yeovil win to nil.

In contrast, Chesterfield have picked up back-to-back wins in their last two League One matches, both of these games ending as 1-0 results. Cook`s men are available at a price of 13/2 (32red, 888sport, Betvictor, unibet) to secure their third successive 1-0 victory.

The club`s recent away record is somewhat mixed having picked up just six points from their last five games away from the Proact Stadium. Indeed, the side scored just three goals in these encounters, something else that suggests that this may be another low scoring affair. A trio of bookmakers (Betvictor, Sports Winner, Titanbet) have 3/4 on under 2.5 goals being scored in tomorrow`s match.
