Everton are 8/13 (boylesports/ladbrokes) for victory and they look likely to do so against a West Brom side that have won just one of their last ten league games. The Baggies suffered an opening day defeat to Southampton 1-0 and then had the drama this week as rumours circulated that Nicolas Anelka had quit football. It is not ideal preparation for the side and I can not imagine they will have much support at 11/2 (bet365/paddy Power/WINNER) and the draw at 10/3 (bet365).
I like the look of Everton though the price is a little short for me so instead I will recommend Leon Osman in the anytime scorer market. The press around Barkley will allow him more space and odds of 6/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred) look generous on a player who netted eight times last season.
Hull fans can rightly feel annoyed by the way they were ignored by the media last weekend who were obsessed with the return of Jose Mourinho to Chelsea. The Tigers had a thankless task and their season starts for real on Saturday when they take on Norwich at the KC Stadium.
Hull are 6/4 (GENERAL) for victory against a Norwich side that have taken just five points from their last ten Premier League away games. That being said the Canaries did draw five of their nine games against teams in the bottom half last season and did well to get a point against Everton when missing key players like Bassong, Pilkington and Snodgrass, all of whom should be fit to play on Saturday, I like the look of the away win no bet market where you can side with Draw at 23/20 (BWIN) which looks the two most likely results.
Newcastle are another side who will have to forget their opening day after going down 4-0 to Man City. The Magpies are 13/10 (william hill) to see off a West Ham side who have won just one of their last 14 away from home in the Premier League. One of those wins did come against Newcastle though and this is an important game for ex Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce and former players Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll.
Once again Newcastle had a frustrating week in the transfer window and I think West Ham are capable of getting something at least a point from the game so take them in the draw no bet market at 7/5 (SPREADEX).
Southamptom opened with a 1-0 win at West Brom and have spent big money this summer. The Saints though look a little short at 3/4 (BETVICTOR) to beat Sunderland as they won just three of their ten home games against sides from the bottom half of the table last season. Instead I will recommend an anytime scorer bet and think the 18/1 (SPREADEX) on Cabral to score anytime is astonishing value seeing as he had five shots in the opening game.
Stoke take on Crystal Palace in a sure contender for last game on Match of the Day and the Potters are 20/23 (BETVICTOR) to win the game. The Midlands side have lost just six times to bottom half teams in their last five seasons so this will not be easy for Palace. Both sides looked solid at the back if lacking ideas going forward and you might want to consider the 15/8 (sportingbet) that this game has either no or one goal.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: West Ham draw no bet market, 7/5 (SPREADEX)
SILVER: Draw in Hull v Norwich with money back if Norwich win, 23/20 (BWIN)
BRONZE: Cabral to score anytime v Southampton, 18/1 (SPREADEX)
