Leicester Unlikely Favourites For West Ham Clash

Premier League

Leicester City will attempt to haul themselves off the foot of the Premier League table with a win at home to West Ham United tomorrow. The Foxes could improve one place should they manage to secure a victory over Sam Allardyce`s men, thereby potentially reducing the seven points between them and safety to four. Failing to get the better of the Hammers would leave the East Midlands side propping up the table and they could end the day 10 points from Sunderland who currently occupy 17th position.

West Ham will be looking to further rise up the table though being four wins away from snatching fifth place means that their dreams of playing Europa League football have somewhat diminished. Should the ninth placed club secure an away victory they could replace Swansea in eighth. Not picking up the maximum of three points could see them fall beneath Stoke and into 10th place.

The two sides have met once already this season, this being in the reverse fixture at Upton Park. It was the hosts who ran out the winners on this occasion, the Iron hitting two past Leicester without reply.

One goal in either half secured the December victory for the Hammers, Andy Carroll breaking the deadlock on the 24th minute to give his side the lead. That advantage was doubled just 10 minutes after the restart as Stewart Downing put the ball into the back of the net to seal all three points for the London club.

Betvictor have got a price of 19/1 on West Ham recording another 2-0 win, this time away from home. Meanwhile, Stewart Downing is available at 14/1 at most bookies to once again be the last goalscorer of the match. A Hammers` win to nil is on offer at the best price of 11/2 (Coral) whilst 9/2 (Numerous) says that Allardyce`s men will be winning at both half time and full time.

These prices might seem high though this is because it is the home side who are the favourites to pick up all three points despite their standing at the foot of the Premier League. Both Coral and paddy Power have the best price of 7/5 on the Foxes seeing United out of the East Midlands empty handed. Otherwise, West Ham can be picked up at 12/5 at bet365 and a draw is on offer at 5/2 at a number of establishments.

City`s favouritism comes in spite of their last league win having come against Aston Villa (1-0) back in January. The club have collected just two points from their last five games. At home, City have not scored in their last three, their win over Aston Villa being the last time they bagged a goal at the King Power Stadium in the league. Whilst their defeat away at Tottenham gives Pearson`s side some hope in terms of goals (they lost that tie 4-3), West Ham are still available at 17/5 (Coral) to keep a clean sheet.

West Ham ended a three game losing streak when they beat Sunderland 1-0 last time out though this has tarnished their recent record on the road, having scooped just three points from their last five games. Goals have also been a problem for Allardyce`s men having failed to net on three of these last five occasions away from the Boleyn Ground though they have had a clean sheet at half time in four of these last five matches. ladbrokes` 4/5 says they will not have conceded a goal at the end of the first 45.

Diafra Sakho, the club`s top scorer with 10 goals, is the 2/1 favourite to score at any time, this being on offer at most bookies.
