It might not quite be Super Sunday though we do have a double-header of live Football this weekend. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from these games.
The live game in the Championship Sunday is between Derby and Blackburn with both sides hoping to get back to the Premier League next season.
Derby are the 21/20 (BETVICTOR/STAN JAMES) favourites as they look to continue a run of home form that saw them end the season with four wins from their last five games. Blackburn meanwhile look to fix a poor run of away from that saw them win just one of their last ten away games in the Championship.
Rovers will take heart from the fact that they won here 3-0 in the FA Cup in January making it four wins from the last five meetings between the sides and they can be backed at 16/5 (bet365/william hill) for victory on Sunday.
The draw was the result when these two sides met last October in the corresponding fixture and the same result again is priced at 5/2 (GENERAL).
This looks a tough game to call and as such I will look to other markets for my bets. The goal machine that is Jordan Rhodes is 7/4 (paddy Power) in the anytime goalscorer market and having scored both league meetings and the FA Cup meeting against Derby last season he will fancy his chances once more. Derby meanwhile will hope that new signings Johnny Russell (2/1-STAN JAMES) and Chris Martin 9/4 (STAN JAMES/ladbrokes/SPREADEX) will get among the goals.
I think this game could have goals as only relegated Bristol City (6) kept fewer clean sheets than Derby (8) while only relegated Peterborough (13.6) faced more shots on average per game than Blackburn (12.1). The over 2.5 goals is the call at 11/10 (BETVICTOR).
The live SPL game Sunday comes from Easter Park in a battle between the Scottish Cup finalists Hibernian and the runners-up last season Motherwell.
Hibernian will be looking to come back from a disappointing eighth place last season and the Edinburgh side are 28/13 (unibet) for an opening day victory. They will need to address a run of form that has seen them win just one of their last eight home games. In addition they will need to bounce back from a shocking result in the Europea League where they suffered a 9-0 aggregate defeat to Malmo. Motherwell are 7/5 (ladbrokes) for victory at a ground where they have won two and draw one of their last three. In fact only Celtic had a better away record last season.
Both sides have lost influential goalscorers in the summer with Micheal Higdon leaving Well for the Dutch league while Leigh Griffiths who returned to Wolves after a loan spell at Hibernian. John Sutton will be expected to fill in the goals for Motherwell after returning to the club after a disappointing spell at Hearts. The younger brother of Chris is 2/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred) to score anytime. Hibernian meanwhile will hope that former Swindon frontman James Collins can do what Griffiths did last season getting among the goals and he is 2/1 (STAN JAMES) to score anytime. The bet though is to take the 7/5 (ladbrokes) Motherwell in the match betting as they are the stronger side.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Motherwell to beat Hibernian, 7/5 (ladbrokes)
SILVER: Jordan Rhodes to score anytime, 7/4 (paddy Power)
BRONZE: Over 2.5 goals between Derby and Blackburn, 11/10 (BETVICTOR)
