Such is the dominance Celtic have in Scottish football that they can afford to sell their two best players (Victor Wanyama and Gary Hooper) and still be a very short price to win the Premier League. Those who wish to gather some interest in the money might want to look at the 1/50 (GENERAL) on offer though for most of us it could be a case at look at other markets for our bets in Scotland.
The betting without Celtic market is headed by Aberdeen at 11/4 (CORAL/betway). The Dons are looking to build on eighth place last season and have brought in some good players with Calvin Zola from Burton, Willo Flood from Dundee United and Barry Robson from Sheff U amongst others joining. Although I expect Aberdeen to be much improved I think the fact they have not finished in the top six in the last four season makes them uneasy favourites.
Motherwell are 3/1 (GENERAL) in betting without Celtic and they won this section last season. The loss of topscorer Michael Higdon is a blow for them though they have managed to keep mnager Stuart McCall and if they can find something out of James McFadden and/or John Sutton they will likely come second once more.
Dundee United are next in the betting at 7/1 (SKYBET/CORAL) and they may struggle to build from their sixth last season after the loss of influential duo Jon Daly and Johnny Russell.
Hibernian are next at 10/1 (SKYBET/william hill) and the loss of goalscorer Leigh Griffiths and a hamering from Malmo in Europé means they do not look appealing.
With most firms paying out on the second place each-way it might be worth a couple of bets on outsiders. Inverness CT finished fourth last season and manager Terry Butcher and most of the key players are still at the club. They could go one better this season and take a Europa League place so try them each-way at 14/1 (BETVICTOR).
St Johnstone finished third last season though with Steve Lomas having departed to Millwall and a European adventure this season they might not finish quite so high again.
The second team to take then is Ross County at 16/1 (BETVICTOR) who managed to finish fifth last season and lost just three home games last season.
The topscorer market in the SPL is an interesting one with three of the top five and seven of the top 12 goalscorers from last season no longer being part of the division this time around. Of the five remaining Aberdeen frontman Niall McGinn is the one to feature most prominently in the betting at 12/1 (ladbrokes) though with Calvin Zola on board his goalscoring might go down this season.
Billy McKay is a 14/1 (GENERAL) chance and the Inverness front man will look to build from his impressive 23 goal start last season. St Mirren frontman Steven Thompson is another who finished in the top ten for his second season in a row having grabbed 13 in his last two seasons in the SPL and he is a 66/1 (bet365/william hill) chance which looks each-way value.
The market is headed by Celtic duo Anthony Stokes who is 5/1 (bet365) and Amido Baide who is 15/2 (paddy Power) though no Celtic player featured in the top three last season and with the Champions League a huge priority the starters can expect to be rotated.
