Everton take on Tottenham in the first of the double header in the Premier League on Sunday (13:30, SKY SPORTS). Andre Villas Boas did himself no favours last weekend when having a go at his own fans and the critics will be quick to come out if he makes the slightest mistake from here on in. Going to Goodison Park is not an easy thing as the Merseysiders side have taken 28 points from their last 10 league home games. Bookmakers Everton the 6/4 (GENERAL) favourites for the game.
Tottenham can take heart from the fact they have won eight of their last nine competitive away games and they can be backed at 2/1 (GENERAL). The draw has been the result in five of the last 11 meetings between these two teams and is available at 5/2 (GENERAL). The anytime scorer market sees Romelu Lukaku at 9/5 (BETVICTOR) as the Belgian looks to continue a run of form that has seen him score seven goals in his last eight games in all competitions. Roberto Soldado meanwhile has netted in the last two Premier League games and the Spaniard is 9/4 (STAN JAMES) to score at anytime.
Paulinho has not netted for the last five Tottenham games though he has been getting himself in attacking positions and is still averaging a couple of shots per game. I think the Brazilian looks worth siding with in the anytime scorer market at 11/2 (SPREADEX).
The second live game is the Welsh derby (16:00, SKY SPORTS) as Cardiff play host to their rivals Swansea in the 55th league meeting between these sides, though it is the first time these sides have done battle in the top flight.
Swansea are the 13/10 (GENERAL) favourites for the game and they have won two of their last three away games. Cardiff have won just one of their home games this season though that victory came against Man City and the Bluebirds are 5/2 (888 SPORT/unibet) for victory while the draw can be backed at 12/5 (GENERAL).
Craig Bellamy is the last player to score a winning goal in this derby and he will be hungry for goals here and he can be backed at 17/4 (SPREADEX) to net anytime on Sunday. The more likely scorer for the Bluebirds is Frazier Campbell who is a 37/13 (888 SPORT/unibet) chance. For the Swans Michu and Wilfried Bony carry the main goal threat and the former is 2/1 (BETVICTOR) to score at anytime and 9/4 (STAN JAMES) the latter.
The best bet in this game is in the anytime scorer market where I like the look of Steven Caulker at 15/1 (888sport/unibet). The Cardiff defender spent a season on loan at Swansea and will be keen to do well here. He should have his chances also as West Ham showed last week how uncomfortable Swansea are at dealing with set pieces.
Finally a quick word on the live game in Scotland where Motherwell take on Hibernian (12:30,BT SPORT). These two teams are both out form so it makes sense to look to the anytime scorer market once more and I think it has to be worth chancing that Iain Virgus can get that elusive goal. No player has attempted more shots this season (14) in the league and failed to score and at odds of 5/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred) that he nets at anytime look worth taking.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Steven Caulker to score anytime v Cardiff, 15/1 (888 SPORT/unibet)
SILVER: Paulinho to score anytime v Everton, 11/2 (SPREADEX)
BRONZE: Iain Virgus to score anytime v Hibernian, 5/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred)
