Europa League

The Europa League returns on Thursday with matchday four which is a reversal of the fixtures played in gameweek three, here is our guide to the best of the bets from these games.

The early game sees Swansea travel to Russia as they look to bounce back from their Welsh derby loss to Cardiff on Sunday. The Welsh side are the marginal 13/8 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power/william hill) favourites for the game, with the draw a best priced 12/5 (sportingbet) and a Kuban victory 15/8 (TOTESPORT/betfred).

All five goals that the Russian side have conceded in this competition have come after the break while the only goal they have scored came in the second half while four of the five goals Swansea have scored in the group stages have came in the second 45 minutes. It took 68 minutes for a breakthrough last time the pair met so it makes sense to have a little interest in the first goal to not come until after the 27th minute at 11/10 (BETVICTOR).

Also in this group Valencia are 11/10 (GENERAL) to see off a St Gallen side they beat 5-1 in the reverse fixture and this seems a fair price. The Swiss side have won just two of their last six home games in this competition while the Spaniards have lost just one of their last five away in this competition, winning three of these.

Wigan have been exceding all expectations in the Europa League and sit second in their group with five points from three games. A trip to Russia and Rubin Kazan is the toughest of all their tasks though as their hosts have won six of their last seven European home games (excluding qualifers) including a 3-2 win over Chelsea in this competition last term. The Championship side will take heart from the 1-1 draw on matchday three and they can be backed at 17/2 (888 SPORT/unibet) for the shock victory while the draw is available at 18/5 (888 SPORT/unibet).

Nick Powell has been a goal machine in the Europa League and is likely to continue in the forward role just behind Grant Holt. Although it will be tricky to score in Russia odds of 7/1 (BWIN) on a player with four goals from his last seven Wigan games looks generous. Also in this group Maribor take on Zulte Waregem and the home side are a generous 5/4 (GENERAL) for the victory considering they have already won 3-1 in Belgium and the visitors have won just four of their last 16 away games in all competitions.

It has been plain sailing for Tottenham in the Europa League so far and they are 1/7 (GENERAL) to see off FC Sheriff. These two sides drew 1-1 in their last meeting though it would be a shock if the Moldovans got anything from this game as they have so far failed to win in any of their European away games.

Jermain Defoe has been prolific netting six goals in his last four European games and if handed the start here will be expected to get among the goals and he is 1/2 (TOTESPORT) to net anytime or 2/1 (boylesports/888 SPORT/unibet) to net two or more goals. The other game in the group sees Tromso entertain Anzhi in Norway with the Russian side the 11/8 (TOTESPORT/betfred) favourites for the victory.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Maribor to defeat Zulte-Waregem, 5/4 (GENERAL)
SILVER: Valencia to defeat St Gallen, 11/10 (GENERAL)
BRONZE: First goal after 27th Min Kuban v Swansea, 11/10 (BETVICTOR)
