Suzanne Boyle and Jonathan&Charlotte have both fallen foul of the curse of the favourite in Britain’s Got Talent. Both were overwhelming favourites who suffered a shock defeat in the final. Does the same fate await Attraction on Saturday night? Here is our guide to the best of the bets from the Reality TV markets.
Attraction are as short as 2/7 (GENERAL) to claim victory in the final of Britain’s Got Talent and you can see why as they are by far and away the most talented act left in the competition. I can not see the shadow puppetry group slipping up as they offer something fresh and new to each show. More importantly though they offer something different to the huge number of vocal acts in this series, six of the ten acts in this show can be classed as vocal acts although one (Richard and Adam) are more Opera singers.
If the favourites do slip up then who will take advantage? I suspect you need to look at the winners of the public votes from the semi-finals which means Jack Carroll (6/1-betfred), Luminites (20/1-bet365/betfred/BETVICTOR), Richard and Adam (22/1-sportingbet) and Francine Lewis 50/1 (betfred/STAN JAMES). Of the four I think the Luminites have that little bit more about them than the other three. I can see Carroll and Lewis splitting the comedy vote (I use the term ’comedy’ very loosely) and it coming down to a battle between Richard and Adam and the Luminites for second spot. Opera singers tend to do well in this show (Paul Potts, Jonathan and Charlotte) while of the pop singers, the Luminites hit the mark for two reasons, one they are fresh and talented, two they are not child stars. The best way to play this then is to take both Richard and Adam 9/2 (BETVICTOR/ladbrokes) and the Luminites 5/1 (GENERAL) in the betting without Attraction.
The night before (Friday) The Voice takes centre stage as the competition reaches the knockout stage. The format of the Voice is a funny one as unlike the X Factor singers must be on their game every week or risk going out. It is almost like the FA Cup of singing as you are as only as good as your last performance. Last series showed that favourites can be eliminated for a bad week (see Jazz Ellington and Ruth Brown) especially now the show has reached the live rounds.
The betting is currently headed by Leah McFall who is talented but too short to back at 3/1 (STAN JAMES). Ash Morgan is now into 13/2 (CORAL) second favourite while Karl Michael is out to 7/1 (ladbrokes) and Matt Henry is an 8/1 (GENERAL) chance. Mike Ward is a 12/1 (bet365) shot as is fellow Team Tom singer Joseph Apostol (betfred) and Andrea Begley (GENERAL). Leanne Jarvis is a 14/1 (bet365/SKYBET/CORAL) chance. Bookmakers think it will come down to these eight and make it 25/1 bar the rest of the field.
I think a little bit of value can be had in taking Leanne Jarvis to be next to be eliminated from Team Will at 13/8 (CORAL). The singer pulled it out of the fire last weekend as Will himself was the first to admit it was set up so that Moni Tivorny could go through the battle. Leanne nailed it that week but it could down to a battle with Cleo (who Will is a huge fan of) for the one remaining spot. This looks more a 50/50 decision and as such 13/8 is too big.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Luminites in the betting without Attraction market, BGT, 5/1 (GENERAL)
SILVER: Richard&Adam in betting without Attraction, 9/2 (BETVICTOR/ladbrokes)
BRONZE: Leanne Jarvis to be next eliminated from Team Will in Voice UK, 13/8 (CORAL)
