Chelsea travel to Anfield for the early kick-off in a bid to try and maintain their impressive unbeaten start to the season and rubber stamp their credentials as Premier League title favourites. The Stamford Bridge club are the only team left unbeaten in the league this season and manager Jose Mourinho would like to continue that run against Liverpool. With only Loic Remy and John Obi Mikel missing with injury, Chelsea should be at full strength for this match and are available at 5/4 with BetVictor to leave Anfield with all three points, just as they did last season when their win famously upset Liverpool`s Premier League title ambitions.
Brendan Rodgers fielded, what was considered by many, as a weakened team against Real Madrid in their mid-week Champions League match and will have much to ponder in terms of his team selection ahead of the match against Chelsea. With players such as Fabio Borini, Lucas Leiva, kolo Toure and Lazar Markovic coming in to the team and arguably performing better than the bigger names of Steven Gerrard and Mario Balotelli in recent weeks, Rodgers will have a big call to make. Despite a decent showing in the match against Real Madrid, Liverpool still lost the game and have been in poor form recently, with bet365 offering 13/5 for them to inflict Chelsea`s first league defeat of the season.
With Mario Balotelli still struggling to make an impact for Liverpool, it`s difficult to pin any hope on him finding the back of the net against Chelsea and it may well be the movement from behind the striker that causes Chelsea the most problems. John Terry and Gary Cahill are a strong central defensive partnership but struggle when coming up against good movement, something which Liverpool have in Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho. Sterling is still Liverpool`s top scorer this season with 3 goals and is available at 9/1 with ladbrokes to get the opening goal of the game, with Coutinho priced at 5/1 with Coral at score at any time.
When looking at potential goal scorers for Chelsea it`s impossible to overlook Diego Costa. The Spanish striker has made a blistering start to his Premier League career, finding the back of the net 9 times in just 8 appearances and is 4/1 with BetVictor to get the first goal of the game. A more unlikely name but still a goal threat at set-pieces and in open play is defender Branislav Ivanovic, who has 2 goals to his name already this season and has also scored 2 goals in one match at Anfield in the past. The Serbian defender is available at 10/1 with paddypower to score at any time and will be a danger, especially considering Liverpool`s frailties at the back.
With a defence that is struggling, Liverpool`s best option will be to attack and statistics show that in 26 of their last 27 Premier League wins, there have been over 2.5 goals in the game and stanjames offer 17/4 for Liverpool to win with over 2.5 goals being scored in the match.
However, it`s difficult to look beyond Chlesea for this one considering the form of the teams and with Chelsea having conceded goals against the likes of Burnley, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace this season, the 17/5 being offered by Coral for a Chelsea win with both teams to score is tempting.
