THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Just 13 games remain for most teams in the second tier of English football and it is Leicester who are eight points clear at the top. The Foxes are not in action this weekend though so the chance is on for some of the other teams to close the gap.
Burnley can go five points behind Leicester if they see off Blackburn in the live SKY SPORTS game on Sunday (12:30). The Clarets are showing no signs of dropping off the pace in the promotion race and have gone unbeaten in the league since Boxing Day. Burnley are 17/10 (GENERAL) for victory over a Blackburn side who lost 4-0 against Bolton last time out. Rovers are tough at their own ground and have lost just two of their last ten in front of their own fans. The best bet in this game then comes in the YES in the both teams to score market as this has happened in four of the last seven Blackburn home games while Burnley have failed to score in just two of their away games this season.
The best bet in the division comes from the game at Oakwell where Barnsley entertain Nottingham Forest and I like the visitors to come out on top here at 5/4 (GENERAL). Forest will be aiming to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat from Wigan and they have lost just one of their last 12 away games in the Championship which came at high-flying Burnley. Barnsley have failed to win any of their home games this season against sides in the top half.
RECOMMENDATION: Forest to beat Barnsley at 5/4 (GENERAL)
YES both teams score Blackburn & Burnley, evs (CORAL/betfair)
LEAGUE ONE
The game of the day in League One sees eighth placed Walsall entertain Wolves and the Midlands side will likely be a popular bet at 6/5 (BETVICTOR) following a run of seven straight victories. A slight word of caution though the Saddlers excel at games like this and have already drawn with Brentford and Leyton Orient this season.
After two games without victory Brentford will look to bounce back at home to Bradford and are 8/13 (GENERAL) while Leyton Orient are 21/20 (BETVICTOR) at Notts County.
The best bet in the division though cames in the game between Oldham and Preston where I like the visiting North End to gain all three points at a price of 11/8 (BETVICTOR/CORAL). Preston are unbeaten in nine matches in the league and while they have drawn a few of these I think the price on them makes them worth the risk. Simon Grayson knows his side need all three points and they face an Oldham side with just four wins from their last 16.
RECOMMENDATION: Preston to beat Oldham, 11/8 (BETVICTOR/CORAL)
LEAGUE TWO
Rochdale had a chance to move top of the table if they beat local rivals Bury in the live SKY SPORTS game on Friday night.
Chesterfield who were the leaders going into the weekend are away to Accrington and are 19/20 (bet365/ladbrokes/william hill) for victory though Stanley are unbeaten in their last five home league meetings with the Spireites. Scunthorpe are another side going well at the top of the table and can be backed 20/23 (BETVICTOR) to see off Northampton though a word of caution the Cobblers have lost just one of their last five away games.
The best bet in the division though comes in the game between Porstmouth and Cheltenham where I think Pompey can get a much needed three points at 17/10 (bet365/william hill). Richie Barker has done a good job since taking over at Fratton Park and his side have won their last two at home to nil. Cheltenham meanwhile have lost five of their last ten.
RECOMMENDATION: Portsmouth to beat Cheltenham, 17/10 (bet365/WILLIAM HILL)
