Swans look the pick of the bets on Sunday

Premier League

Southampton find themselves sixth in the Premier League and have lost just one of their last eight league games. That being said I think the best value this weekend can be found in taking on the Saints. Of these seven games that they did not lose four ended drawn while one was a game with Palace. At home five of the last seven games have ended drawn.

I think Swansea must be taken then with 0.5 start on the Asian Handicap at 7/8 (188 BET) as the Welsh side have won three of their last five away from home in the Premier League (with those other two being against Man Utd and Tottenham). In fact the Swans have avoided defeat in all bar two of their games (West Ham, West Brom) against sides of a similar or weaker ability since October 29th 2012. Southampton have already been held at home by West Ham and Sunderland this season and the Welsh side have to be backed here.

As Chelsea struggle for goals this season the sight of Romelu Lukaku banging them in for Everton makes it puzzling that Jose Mourinho thinks the player should have been allowed out on loan. Another Mourinho puzzler is just why he has used Juan Mata so little this season. The Spaniard was excellent last season and he has made the difference since coming off the bench against Tottenham and in midweek in the Champions League against Steaua Bucharest. It will be shock then if he does not start against Norwich which is bad news for the Canaries as it was Mata who made the different last season netting in the Boxing Day clash at Carrow Road and creating two goals in the 4-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. In a game that the match prices look about right then the 8/1 (betfred/BETVICTOR/ladbrokes) on the Spaniard to grab the man of the match award is the recommended bet.

West Brom just got done climbing Mount Everest and instead of being allowed time to celebrate they are faced with the K2 of football teams in Arsenal.

The North London side are 4/5 (GENERAL) as they seek a tenth win from their last 11 in all competitions and their ninth straight Premier League away win. The one draw came in the League Cup against West Brom and it is 37/13 (888 SPORT/unibet) that this tie ends all square while a shock Baggies victory is available at 19/5 (BETVICTOR/william hill).

I like the look of the 15/8 (CORAL) that Arsenal will win this game but West Brom will score. The Baggies actually had more shots than United last week and with Sessegnon, Amalfitano and Sinclair they carry a real goal-threat from Midfield with Anichebe excellent at laying the ball off for his midfielders. You need to stick with the Gunners when they are in this form as they look unplayable but be sure to enhance the price with this market.

Tottenham should have few problems seeing off a West Ham side that is badly out of form. That being said though Spurs are coming off the back of a trip to Russia on Thursday night and as such I will give them a miss at short odds of 5/11 (188 BET).

The best way to play this game could be in siding with Paulinho to score at anytime which is available at 7/2 (SKYBET). While Eriksen and Sigurdsson are grabbing the headlines the Brazlian has netted three goals from eight games.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Swansea +0.5 on Asian Handicap v Southampton, 7/8 (188 BET)
SILVER: Arsenal to win but West Brom to score, 15/8 (CORAL)
BRONZE: Paulinho to score anytime v West Ham, 7/2 (SKYBET)
