Premier League

I am sure fans of Colchester and Norwich let out a little laugh when Paul Lambert told an interviewer that he had never quit anything in his life. The Villa manager might have a few problems with memory though of more concern for him is a four game run for the Midlands side without a win. Swansea are not in great form either with just two wins from their last 14 games in all competitions and no wins from any of their last five. With games against Man United, Man City and Tottenham to come the Welsh side will have marked this as a game that they need to take all three points from and they can be backed to do so at 13/8 (betfred).

Villa have won five of the last six meetings between these sides at Villa Park and having taken four points from the Swans last season will be quietly confident that they can get something and they are 2/1 (bet365) the victory while the draw is 23/10 (GENERAL).

These are two sides struggling for goals at the moment with Villa failing to find the net in six of their last eight home games and grabbing just one in their last four games. Swansea meanwhile have just three goals from their last six away games in the Premier League. Villa Park fans are used to a lack of entertainment this season and they likely will have to wait for a goal here. The 11/10 (BETVICTOR) that the first goal comes after the 27th minute looks the way to play this game.

Hull and Fulham will be both happy with their work on Boxing Day and these two sides do battle at the KC Stadium on Saturday (15:00). The Tigers lost 3-2 to Man United after leading 2-0 after just 13 minutes though the Red Devils found a way back into the game. Hull still had chances at the end and can count themselves unlucky to not have got at least a point. They must pick themselves up and go again here at a KC Stadium that is proving something of a fortress with just two defeats in front of their own fans this season. You can back Hull then at 11/10 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power/CORAL) while the draw is a 12/5 (GENERAL) chance.

The London side will be full of confidence after a late Scott Parker goal give them a 2-1 victory at Carrow Road on Boxing Day which was just their fourth away victory from their last 19 games on the road. The Cottagers deserved their victory and looks a little bit of value to get something here against a Hull side that far all the plaudits have still gone five games without a victory. You can back Fulham at 31/10 (bet365) though I want to cover the draw which is a real risk as this have been the result in three of the last four games the Tigers have played. I recommend then taking the 15/8 (BETVICTOR) on Fulham draw no bet.

Another bet I like in this game is the 50/1 (GENERAL) on Alex Bruce to score at anytime. One of the key takeouts from the game on Boxing Day was how excellent the delivery of Tom Huddlestone was at set-pieces and this could be a real area of attack against a Fulham side who have looked vulnerable this season in defending set-pieces. Although it was James Chester who got the goal Alex Bruce was a huge menace. He set up one goal and hit the woodwork himself with another effort so odds of 50/1 (GENERAL) on him to score first or 21/1 (888 SPORT/unibet) that he scores at anytime look massive. Sebastien Bassong almost netted from a corner for Norwich so this looks a great value bet to be taking.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Fulham to beat Hull, draw no bet, 15/8 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: First goal after 27th minute Aston Villa v Swansea, 11/10 (BETVICTOR)
BRONZE: Alex Bruce to net v Fulham, 50/1 first (GENERAL), 21/1 anytime (888 SPORT/unibet)
