Premier League

Some debate exists as to what the plural of Abacus is, some say Abacai others says Abacuses, whatever the correct answer you feel the fans of Man City and Man United might need to take them ahead of their games on Saturday.

The Blue half of Manchester entertain Crystal Palace at the Etihad and the best attack in the Premier League will fancy their chance against an Eagles defence that is the fifth worst in the top flight. City should have few problems though 1/7 (GENERAL) does not scream bet so it might be best to enchance this somehow. You can get City to be ahead at half time and at full time at odds of 1/2 (WINNER) which is better but still does not appeal. The 5/6 (BETVICTOR) are going on City to win to nil might be an option though the Eagles did find the net on a recent visit to Stamford Bridge.

The best option to me though is to have a little player in the goalscorer markets where Alvaro Negredo is 10/3 (CORAL) to net first and 11/17 (BWIN) to score at anytime. I think though Pellegrini will be tempted to rest a few with the games coming thick and fast so it might pay to look down the list for a better value scoring option. James Milner could be line for a start from the off so odds of 12/1 (GENERAL) on him to score first or 5/1 (CORAL) that he nets at anytime look the best way to play this as the winger has two in his last five games.

Man United are headed to Carrow Road and with the Canaries missing key defender Michael Turner through suspension the Red Devils could have a field day. Norwich have already shipped seven against Man City, five against Liverpool and four against United in the League Cup. It is 3/5 (BETVICTOR/ladbrokes) a United victory though you will not get rich backing David Moyes men at that price.

Norwich will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing home performance on Boxing Day when they let Fulham back into a game they should have had on cruise control after an early goal. The Canaries were poor which they have been for a few weeks now and even with a 1-0 victory over United last season you would not be looking to take the East Anglian side at odds of 11/2 (GENERAL) while the draw is a 16/5 (GENERAL) chance.

The best way to play this game then is to take Man United on the Asian Handicap market giving up a start of 1.0 at odds of 11/10 (bet365). The Red Devils, as stated before, have already pushed aside Norwich with ease in the League Cup and against Hull showed real attacking threat. This bet will refund all stakes if United win by one just the one goal and a victory or two or more goals will pay out in full.

In terms of goalscoring bets Wayne Rooney is the 4/1 (bet365) favourite to open the scoring following his excellent strike against Hull and he is a generous 6/5 with the same firm to net at anytime. Shinji Kagawa if selected will like his chances having netted a hat-trick against Norwich last season and is 3/1 (GENERAL) to score at anytime. The player I like the look of though is Ashley Young as the winger was excellent against Hull and should have a lot of joy against the slow Norwich full-backs. Young can be backed at 23/2 (888 SPORT/unibet) to score the opener and is 4/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred) to score at anytime.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Man United -1.0 on Asian Handicap v Norwich, 11/10 (bet365)
SILVER: James Milner to score v Palace, first 12/1 (GENERAL), anytime 5/1 (CORAL)
BRONZE: Ashley Young to score v Norwich, first 23/2 (888 SPORT/unibet), anytime 4/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred)
