The game of the day in League Two is the one that pits third placed Burton against second placed Oxford. Both sides have made identical starts to the season winning three and drawing two of their five games with Oxford higher by the virtue of having scored three more goals. Bookmakers make Burton the 6/4 (GENERAL) favourites as they are the home side and have won 18 of their last 25 home games. The visitors though are unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions and have won six of these so will be no pushovers. If you think Oxford can get all three points then you can get them at 21/10 (SPREADEX) while the draw is a 12/5 (GENERAL) chance.
This looks a tough game to predict from a betting point of view and as such I will keep a watching brief for any key pointers to two sides who will be strong players in the battle for promotion.
Chesterfield are the league leaders and many will add them to their accumulator as they have a home game against Accrington. The price of 1/2 (BETVICTOR/CORAL) does not appeal despite Stanley not winning any of their last six in the league. Accrington put in a spirited performance against Cardiff and defeated Middlesbrough in the League Cup and they could raise their game for this one. Having said that though odds of 15/2 (bet365) an away win or 7/2 (bet365/BETVICTOR) on the draw do not inspire me
One team I like the look of in the betting market is Morecambe to get something from their visit to Southend. The Shrimps will take heart from the fact they won both meetings between these sides last season. Recent form for Morecambe has also been good as they have won their last two games seeing off Plymouth and Exeter in the league which was sandwiched with a spirited performance against Newcastle in the League Cup. Southend meanwhile have gone backwards after a strong start to the season and have lost their last two to Chesterfield and Wycombe. You can get 10/3 (bet365) a Morecambe victory or 5/2 (paddy Power) the draw. It is important to keep the draw on side so take Morecambe with a 0.5 start on the Asian Handicap which pays out on the win or the draw at odds of 11/12 (188 BET).
Another bet I like the look of comes in the game between York and AFC Wimbledon where I think the visitors can get something from the game. AFC Wimbledon saw off highly fancied Fleetwood last weekend which moved them into fourth place in the divison with ten points (three wins, one draw, one loss) from their five games so far. The Minstermen meanwhile have failed to win any of their last four in the league, losing three of these games. Throw in the fact that the Dons won both of the meetings between these sides then it looks worth siding with the visitors. I like the look of AFC Wimbledon in the draw no bet market where they can be backed at 6/5 (GENERAL).
Sticking with this game I can recommend an anytime scorer bet I can recommend an interest on Harry Pell to score against York at a value 6/1 (bet365). Pell has scored two goals in his last five league appearances and could have a third but for it taking a deflection. He is also on penalties so this looks a cracking price. The Minstermen have conceded five times in their last two games and Pell if selected will fancy his chances of getting among the goals.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Morecambe +0.5 on the Asian Handicap v Southend, 11/12 (188 BET)
SILVER: AFC Wimbledon draw no bet v York, 6/5 (GENERAL)
BRONZE: Harry Pell to score anytime v York, 6/1 (BET365)
