Premier League

Arsenal are about to embark on a four game 11 day spell that could shape their entire season. First up for the Gunners is a trip to Anfield in the Premier League (12:45, BT SPORT).

Liverpool are the 23/20 (ladbrokes/william hill/WINNER) favourites for the game as they look to continue a run of home form that has seen them win nine and draw one of their last ten in front of their own fans. The Merseysiders though have yet to face any of the top four at home and this will be their biggest test of the season against the table toppers.

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last ten in all competitions winning eight of these and can be backed at 5/2 (BETVICTOR/BWIN) to take all three points as they did when these sides met in November. The Gunners meanwhile are unbeaten on their last five visits to Anfield. I will recommend a bet on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to score during the game. The youngster netted twice last time out and his pace will cause, a Liverpool side vulnerable at full-back, some real problems. The player netted twice last weekend and odds of 16/1 (betway) that he nets first and 6/1 (betfred) he nets anytime are worth taking.

Into the 3pm kick-offs and the game from Villa Park could be a tense one as Aston Villa and West Ham will have both marked this game as one where they can take three points.

Villa are the 11/10 (GENERAL) favourites and have a good recent against the Hammers winning three and losing just one of the last six meetings between the pair. That being said I will not be rushing to side with them as they have won just three league home games. That being said it is hard to be hopeful of the chances of West Ham without Andy Carroll who is suspended after his red card against Swansea. The Hammers have won just two away games all season in the Premier League so odds of 14/5 (BETVICTOR/ladbrokes) do not appeal, while the draw can be backed at 5/2 (BETVICTOR/STAN JAMES/CORAL).

The 23/20 (WINNER) on the NO in the both teams to score market is the way to play this game. The London side have kept 11 clean sheets this season, a Premier League joint high, while Villa have failed to find the net in five of their last nine league home games.

Chelsea will be on a high following victory over Man City and they are 2/7 (TOTESPORT/STAN JAMES) favourites for the game with Newcastle. The Blues are after all unbeaten in their 72 Premier League home games under Mourinho. That being said I think the price on Newcastle of 14/1 (BETVICTOR/SPREADEX) is a little high considering the Magpies have already beaten them this season. Alan Pardew will demand a reaction from his players after a no show in the local derby. The Magpies have already won at Old Trafford and White Hart Lane this season and I like them with a 1.5 start on the Asian Handicap. This bet will pay if Newcastle can avoid defeat by two or more goals with just two of the last nine Chelsea home games having been won by more than one goal.

The best bet though comes in the game between Crystal Palace and West Brom at Selhurst Park where I am shocked to see the home side at 8/5 (BETVICTOR). The Eagles have won four of their last six in front of their own fans. The Baggies have won away from home just once all season and have lost four of their last six on their travels.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Crystal Palace to beat West Brom, 8/5 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: Newcastle +1.5 on Asian Handicap v Chelsea, 11/10 (BETVICTOR)
BRONZE: Oxlade-Chamberlain to score, first 16/1 (betway), anytime 6/1 (betfred) VALUE: NO both teams to score, Aston Villa v West Ham, 23/20 (WINNER)
