Brian McDermott seems to have been playing the ’take the holiday’ option known so well to fans of Football Manager. The Leeds manager was sacked for all of one day, a game that his team won 5-1, and after his rest is back in charge for the game with Yeovil which is the Saturday lunchtime live game (12:15, SKY SPORTS). Leeds are 7/5 (william hill) to see off a Yeovil side that have won just one of their last nine in the Championship. Those wanting to side with the Glovers can do so at 23/10 (bet365) while the draw is 5/2 (bet365/BETVICTOR). A better bet though is the 5/4 (SPREADEX) on Ross McCormack to net at anytime as he has four in the last two games and will fancy his chances against a side that have shipped 16 in their last six league games.

At the top of the table Leicester are in excellent form with nine consecutive league games and are 4/5 (BETVICTOR/william hill) and they will be a popular bet against a Watford side with no wins in their last nine away games.

The best bet for me though is the 5/4 (bet365/william hill) on Middlesbrough to see off Blackburn. Rovers are awful travellers with just four wins from their last 25 on the road. Boro have won six of their last nine at home and the addition of Danny Graham on loan should help them out in front of goal where they have struggled a little of late. In defence they are fine though keeping five clean sheets from their last six league home games.

Brentford are unstoppable at the moment going 18 games unbeaten in League One winning 15 of these and they should have few problems seeing off a Crawley side with just two wins from their last 12 games. The Bees are a short 13/20 (BETVICTOR) for all three points. Wolves are in second place and they are 4/5 (william hill) to continue a run of four straight victories against a Stevenage side with three wins from their last 11 games.

Leyton Orient sit in third and they are at home to seventh placed Peterborough in the game of the day in League One. Orient are 21/20 (bet365/WILLIAM HILL) as they look to reigster their 13th home victory of the season in all competitions. Posh are 29/10 (BETVICTOR) to register their first away victory in the league since October.

The best bet in the division comes from the game at Brunton Park where I like the look of Carlisle to see off Gillingham at odds of 6/5 (GENERAL). Although the Cumbrians are six places below the Gills it is the respective form at home and away that makes this bet value. Carlisle have won six of their last eight games in front of their own fans while Gillingham have lost six of their last seven games on the road.

No doubt about the game of the day in League Two as leaders Chesterfield travel to second placed Scunthorpe. Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair with the visitors the marginal at 17/10 (BET365/WILLIAM HILL) and the home team 19/10 (BETVICTOR). The Spireites have not won any of their last seven against Scunthorpe and with the Iron having drawn each of their last four and this to end all square might be an option at 12/5 (GENERAL).

The best bet is Oxford to take all three points from their visit to Bristol Rovers. Rovers lost to Accrington at home recently and have won just one of their last five. Oxford meanwhile are unbeaten at home in the league this season and seem to have shown no signs of missing boss Chris Wilder so take the 23/20 (BETVICTOR) on them in the draw no bet market.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Oxford to beat Bristol Rovers, draw no bet, 23/20 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: Middlesbrough to beat Blackburn, 5/4 (BET365/WILLIAM HILL
BRONZE: Carlisle to beat Gillingham, 6/5 (GENERAL)
