Red-hot Leicester to outfox Birmingham

Championship

It is a busy night of action in the Championship on Tuesday night with 11 games, here is our guide to the best of the bets from these fixtures.

Leicester continue to march on in the Championship and are now eight points clear at the top though they have played a game more than QPR in second. It is an incredible achievement by Nigel Pearson and his side and victory over Middlesbrough on Saturday made it seven straight victories for the Foxes. An away trip to Birmingham will not worry them as they have won each of their last three away and they look a must bet at 19/20 (GENERAL) for the victory against a Blues side with just one win from their last 11 home games. After a disappointing spell over Christmas QPR are back on track with three straight league victories and at home to a Bolton side with just one league win from their last seven they should have few problems taking all three points at odds of 7/10 (GENERAL). Charlie Austin has nine goals from his last 11 home games and he can be backed at 20/21 (bet365) to score.

The game of the evening is the one from Turf Moor that features third placed Burnley at home to eighth placed Brighton. The Clarets are the only side in the division yet to lose at home though the worry is they have started to draw a few recently (three of their last six). Brighton are going well in recent weeks with just one loss from their last ten in all competitions and they will fancy their chances at a ground they have only last once at in their last five visits.

Fourth placed Derby take on second bottom Yeovil and this will be a popular one for the accumulators though despite their impressive form the Rams at 1/2 (GENERAL) is not a price that is of any interest to me.

The same can be said on the 4/5 (GENERAL) on Reading to defeat Blackpool. The Royals are deserved favourites though were lifeless in their 2-0 loss to Ipswich and they may be distracted by the takeover events off the field. The Tangerines give everything for caretaker boss Barry Ferguson against Doncaster and if they keep that spirit up might even be decent outsiders to win at odds of 4/1 (GENERAL).

One more bet I like the look of comes in the scorer market where the 2/1 (betfred) are offering on Billy Sharp to score anytime looks the way to play it. The player netted for Doncaster at the weekend and at home will be desperate to score for the fans who still adore him. Sharp will fancy his chances againsr a Charlton side that have conceded at least once in each of their last nine league matches.

One final bet I want to recommend comes in the outright markets where I like the 6/1 (paddy Power/bet365) on Middlesbrough to finish in the top six. The North Eastern side are just five points from the play-offs and have lost just one of their last seven with this loss coming away to table toppers Leicester. Aitor Karanka has done a good job in his time in charge so far and Boro can only continue to improve under the former Real Madrid assistant while Steve Gibson will back his man in the transfer window.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Leicester to beat Birmingham, 19/20 (GENERAL)
SILVER: Billy Sharp to score anytime v Charlton, 2/1 (betfred)
BRONZE: Middlesbrough to finish top six, 6/1 (paddy Power/bet365)
