The live game on Tuesday night (BT SPORT) is the battle at the bottom of the table between 19th placed Cardiff and 12th placed Aston Villa. Bookmakers make the Bluebirds the 6/4 (william hill) favourites for the game as they look back from their 3-0 defeat to fierce rivals Swansea on Saturday. The Welsh side won their last home game against Norwich though this was just one of four games home wins. Aston Villa meanwhile do their best work on the road losing just four of their 12 on their travels this season as the counter-attacking game tends to play to the strengths of the Midlands side. I think Villa look worth backing at 6/5 (BETVICTOR) in the draw no bet market against a Cardiff side that look all at sea at the back currently.

Hull had Wes Brown and the ref to thank for an easy three points at the Stadium of Light on Saturday and this time around they welcome Southampton to the KC Stadium.

The Saints are the 8/5 (BETVICTOR/william hill) favourites for the game as they take on a side they beat 4-1 in November. Hull though are difficult opponents at home and Tottenham and Liverpool are among the sides who failed to win at the KC Stadium. In addition Southampton have drawn three of their last four so look a little short for me.

I would recommend an interest in the evens (BETVICTOR/CORAL/william hill) in the both teams to score market which would have paid out in nine of the last 13 Southampton league games while the Tigers have only failed to score in four of their 13 home games.

Another game with implications at the bottom of the table is West Ham against Norwich as both sides come into the game on the back of morale boosting results.

The Hammers are the 11/10 (bet365/WILLIAM HILL) favourites for the game between the sides in 15th and 16th in the table. West Ham have taken seven points from their last three and face a Norwich side who have lost eight of their last 11 away, including their last three. The Canaries were very unlucky against Cardiff on their last road trip and frustrated Man City at Carrow Road and be capable of getting a point or more here. They are 29/10 (BETVICTOR) the victory while the draw is available at 5/2 (GENERAL).

West Ham will be without Andy Carroll while Norwich are likely without Gary Hooper and with both teams looking strong at the back goals are likely to be scarce in this encounter. You can get 11/4 (boylesports) that this game has under 1.5 goals and this is decent value.

At the top of the table it is Chelsea who find themselves with their noses out in front, though don’t worry there will be neigh little horse jokes from us (sorry).

Up next for the Blues is West Brom and they are just 8/15 (ladbrokes/WILLIAM HILL) to see off the Midlands side. Chelsea are on fire at the moment with 11 wins and three draws from their last 14 in all competitions and away from home they have won their last four. It is hard to see the Baggies stopping them even if they did manage a draw earlier in the season at Stamford Bridge. The best way to play this is to take half time/full time at 13/10 (SPREADEX) as this would have paid in four of their last five Chelsea games while the Baggies have conceded seven of their last nine goals in the first half.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Aston Villa draw no bet v Cardiff, 6/5 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: Chelsea HT/Chelsea FT v West Brom, 13/10 (SPREADEX)
BRONZE: Both teams to score, Hull v Southampton, evs (BETVICTOR/CORAL/W.HILL) VALUE: Under 1.5 goals between West Ham & Norwich, 11/4 (boylesports)
