BET365 are offering a number of specials ahead of the Cheltenham Festival and here is our guide to the best of the bets from these markets.
TOP JOCKEY
Ruby Walsh has finished as Top Jockey at the Festival in seven of the last ten years and is expected to go well this year with rides such as Quevega, Annie Power and Hurricane Fly. Ruby is a deserved market leader than at odds of 4/7.
Barry Geraghty is second in the betting and with the pick of the rides from the Nicky Henderson then he has to be respected. The duo though are missing a couple of their stars including Simonsig and Sprinter Sacre and he does not appeal at 10/3.
29 victories at Cheltenham for Tony McCoy yet strangely he has not won the Champion Jockey for 15 years at the Festival and that is unlikely to change this year as McCoy picks his rides these days.
The value then lies in Sam Twiston-Davies who among his ten booked rides (which might rise to more at the meeting) is on highly fancied duo Big Buck’s and The New One. At this price of 20/1 then he looks worth a little interest.
RECOMMENDATION: Sam Twiston-Davies top Cheltenham jockey, 20/1 (bet365)
TOP TRAINER
The winner of this market last year was Willie Mullins with a record seven and the Irish trainer is as short as 2/5 for success this time with a number of top rides set to feature including Quevega and Hurricane Fly.
Nicky Henderson is the 4/1 second favourite and he was the winner in 2012 and 2010. Paul Nicholls has not won this since 2009 and with a strong hand this year I think looks worth an interest at 9/2 to be the top Festival trainer.
RECOMMENDATION: Paul Nicholls top Cheltenham festival, 9/2 (bet365).
TOP OWNER
JP McManus is the 4/5 favourite to finish as the owner at the Cheltenham Festival ahead of Rich Ricci at 7/4. Those looking for a little interest might want to consider the 6/1 on Gigginstown Stud. The group headed by Michael O’Leary of Ryanair fame have around 40 entries over the four days and among them include Trifolium, First Lieutenant and Last Instalment.
RECOMMENDATION: Gigginstown Stud to be top owners, 6/1 (bet365)
RACE WON BY THE BIGGEST DISTANCE
You can bet on which race at the Cheltenham Festival will be won by the biggest distance with the Arkle Chsase, the Foxhunter Chase, the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle and the Terry Biddecombe National Hunt Chase all available at 10/1. This is a fun little market and those looking for a little interest could do worse than take an each-way punt at a bigger price as bet365 are paying out on the 1/2/3. I think a little interest in the Triumph Hurdle at 33/1 after all this was the race that Our Conor won by 15 lengths last time out.
RECOMMENDATION: Triumph Hurdle, EW, biggest race winning distance, 33/1
PRESTBURY CUP
In addition you can bet on which nation will train the most winners between Great Britain and Ireland with the hosts the 1/5 favourites while the visiting Irish are 10/3 to come out on top.
