Vera Zvonareva is the 4/6 favourite with william hill to take down 26-year-old New Zealander Marina Erakovic tomorrow morning and progress through to the semi-final stage of the PTT Thailand Open. Her opponent is the underdog in the tie, set to be played at 8:00 British time, and can be backed at 11/8 with bet365.

These odds are despite Erakovic holding a better standing in the WTA rankings, her 85th position a full 104 better than Zvonareva`s 189, and in spite of the fact that the Croatia-born star defeated the Russian in the pair`s only previous meeting.

This exchange came way back in 2008 in the quarter-finals of Auckland`s ASB Open, the eventual winner coming off the better of the two women following a three set slog. Erakovic took the first set 6-3 before being pegged back 6-2 and needing a tie-breaker to force the victory. The ASB, like the PTT Thailand Open, is a hard court competition.

Betway currently have the best price on the match lasting three sets on Friday morning, 7/5 their odds on this occurrence. Sixteen-to-five with 888sport and unibet says that Zvonareva will take the match in three sets whilst a second successive three set win for the New Zealander against this competition`s former two-time winner is 9/2 with bet365.

Indeed, 30-year-old Zvonareva has twice taken the Thailand trophy, scooping wins back in 2008 and 2009 when beating respective finalists Sania Mirza (7-5, 6-1) and Tamarine Tanasugarn (6-4, 6-4). As a result of these previous successes, the Moscow born star is the 3/1 favourite with paddy Power to secure the whole tournament having seen off her previous opponents in straight sets.

The first round saw the former world number two bring down 5`8" Chinese player Qiang Wang 6-2, 6-2 before successfully facing off against her Chinese counterpart in Shuai Zhang. Zvonareva snuck past the world number eight with a tie-break in the first set before leaving her for dust with a 6-3 victory in the second.

As well as her tie-break against Zhang, she also had to play a tie-break in her only previous match with her Erakovic. It`s 15/8 on the betfair Exchange should you think that the two women will play out another tie-break whilst 2/9 with the same bookmaking service says that they won`t.

On a similar note, Coral have 6/1 on there being a tie-break in the first set whilst pricing up there not being one at 1/10. These are also the odds on there being one, and not being one, in the second set.

William Hill have the best price on a straight sets victory for the former two-time Grand Slam runner-up, 7/4 being available with the bookmaker. Coral share a price of 3/1 with this same turf accountant on Zvonareva`s opponent winning in straight sets, something she has also done in her two previous Thailand ties.

Home hope Luksika Kumkhum was dispatched 6-2, 6-2 in Erakovic`s tournament opener before she only dropped two games in defeating Ukrainian Yuliya Beygelzimer 6-1, 6-1. These stylish victories have seen Coral cut the price of Erakovic winning the whole competition to 8/1.

Erakovic`s two openers have only lasted on average 15 games. paddy Power`s 10/11 says that the match will be polished off in under 21.5 games tomorrow morning whilst Betvictor have the best price on it being completed in over 21.5 games, that being 37/40.

On average, Zvonareva has finished off her two opponents in 19 games. Should you be interested in handicap betting, Zvonareva can be backed at 13/8 (paddy Power) starting on -1.5 games whilst is available at 7/25 with betway on +1.5 games.

Erakovic is 5/11 with 888sport and unibet to win with a handicap of +1.5 or 11/4 with the same bookmakers starting on -1.5.
