The pick of the games in the Championship is the one that pitches Leeds against Cardiff. Last weekend Leeds knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup and now take on the league leaders having won their last three games and their last six at Elland Road. Cardiff though are also in great form winning five and drawing one of their last six in the league. Bookmakers make the Bluebirds the 6/4 (general) favourites while Leeds are 28/13 (pinnacle) and the draw is 5/2 (pinnacle). If it looks a great game to watch it is a nightmare for punters and as such I will sit this game out.
Two bets stand out in the Championship and that is siding with in-form duo Barnsley and Bristol City. City have taken six points from their last two games and although both wins came at home I see no reason why they can not pick up at least point from their visit to Blackburn. It was a frustrating deadline day for the Ewood Park club as they failed to complete the paperwork on DJ Campbell and although they have become more difficult to beat in recent weeks the truth remains they are not winning enough. They have won just one of their last seven home games in the league. Take City with +0.5 on the Asian Handicap which is a best priced 17/13 with pinnacle. This bet will pay out if the game ends in a draw or a City win.
By the time you read this Blackpool might have lost the rights to their name such is the nature of their season. They can not seem to hold onto anything, be it leads, players or even managers. Kevin Phillips was the latest through the exit door and with just one win from their last 12 home games they look worth taking on here against on song Barnsley. The Tykes have won four and drawn one of their last five in all competitions and look reborn under new boss David Flitcroft. The last two meetings between these sides have ended drawn and if you take Barnsley at +0.5 on the Asian Handicap at 14/11 (Pinnacle) you will get paid out on this result or a Tykes win.
In League One Crawley take on Swindon in a game that is live on television on Saturday evening. Crawley sit eleventh in the League One table while Swindon are third. The Robins are the 11/8 (BetVictor) favourites despite being away from home. This is probably as a result of entering the game on the back of an eight game unbeaten run in the league. Crawley meanwhile are starting to struggle after a strong start to the season and have won just one of their last six at home. Crawley can be backed at 53/21 (Pinnacle) while the draw is a best priced 5/2 (bet365).
Those who want a bet on the live game might want to consider a little bet on the time of the first goal being under 27 minutes which is available at evens with paddy Power. No side has scored more goals in the opening 30 minutes of games in this division than Swindon (17).
The best bet in League Two comes in the game between Fleetwood and Bradford. Jon Parkin has grabbed four goals in his last three games and looks good value to score at anytime at 15/8 with bet365. Opponents Bradford are leaking goals at the moment conceding 14 in their last seven and eight in their last four. Take the in-form Parkin to take advantage here.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Barnsley +0.5 on the Asian line v Blackpool, 14/11 (Pinnacle)
SILVER: Bristol City +0.5 on the Asian line v Blackburn, 17/13 (Pinnacle)
BRONZE: Jon Parkin to score anytime v Bradford, 15/8 (bet365)
