When he first arrived I must admit I thought Olivier Giroud was more Stephane Guivarch than a suitable Robin Van Persie replacement now I am being forced to eat my own words (insert your own joke about French culinary habits here). Five goals in his last three games is an impressive return and an Anglo-French understanding is being formed with Theo Walcott (four in his last four games). The duo will be expecting to add to their tally against a Stoke side who seemed to have forgotten how to defend, shipping in 15 in their last five Premier League games. The best bet then might be to take the Gunners at 15/8 (Stan James) to score over 2.5 goals.

The last team Aston Villa probably wanted to face at the moment is Everton who are strong and physical and full of confidence. I can not see past the Toffees though 2/5 (general) does not interest me. Why not try a bet on the method of the first goal being a header at 17/4 (BetVictor). The problem Villa have at set pieces has been well documented while Everton have the presence of Fellaini and some great set piece takers.

A few weeks ago and this would have looked like a comfortable win for Chelsea things though have changed. Newcastle invested heavily in the January transfer window to improve the squad while the Blues seem to have packed up and gone on their summer holidays. Newcastle are 10/3 (Stan James) the victory while the draw is 11/4 (Stan James) and a Chelsea win is 21/20 (BetVictor). It looks a tricky game to predict with those looking for a bet on this game best off taking both teams to score at 4/6 (general) which has paid in four of the last five Chelsea games and four of the last six Newcastle games.

Two sides who seasons have undergone a radical change in fortune in recent weeks meet this Saturday as Reading play host to Sunderland. From their last six in the league the Royals have won three, drawn two and lost one and moved themselves out of the bottom three. Sunderland for their part have taken seven points from their last three games and eased their relegation worries. The Black Cats are 6/5 (bet365/Totesport/betfred) to score first and this is worth a ebt given the fact that Reading have scored just three goals in the opening 70 minutes of their last ten league matches. That and tune in to see if the Royals can continue with their habit of late drama.

With just one win from their last nine games in the Premier League West Ham suddenly find themselves looking over their shoulders at the relegation battle. The visitors this weekend are Swansea who are not only pretty much safe from the drop but have the internal battle for places in the lineup at Wembley. The Swans are unbeaten in seven, can match West Ham for workrate and organisation and in Michu have the best player on the picth. Take them at 5/4 (BetVictor/Stan James/ladbrokes) in the draw no bet market.

Another side I like in the draw no bet market is Southampton who looked good against Man United and enter the game in much better form than Wigan. The pressure is on for the hosts and despite an encouraging second half display against Stoke I can still see the Saints getting at least a draw out of this game. The draw no bet market price is available at 6/4 (general).

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Southampton in draw no bet market v Wigan, 6/4 (general)
SILVER: Swansea in draw no bet market v West Ham, 5/4 (BetVictor/Stan James/ladbrokes)
BRONZE: Arsenal to score over 2.5 goals v Stoke, 15/8 (Stan James)
