Ravindra Jajeda is a man who has not had it easy after a poor start to his international career led to him being the victim of numerous internet jokes. Jajeda was getting the blame for everything and anything that could go wrong with the Indian national team and in the country of India in general. Fans had him in as much esteem as England football fans hold Carlton Palmer. Jajeda though is having the last laugh as his recent performances for the national team and in the IPL have had his mocking nickname of ’Sir’ now become a sign of praise. Back on Jajeda to continue this run of form and to top score with the bat at odds of 16/1 (SKYBET/SPREADEX). The pitch is likely to favour the bowlers so the number seven batsman could feature earlier than last time out. In the game against South Africa he hit 47 not out from just 29 balls and the Oval was where (in 2011) he hit 78 runs again England.

In terms of the match odds I think Bookmakers have this right as they make India the 4/6 (GENERAL) favourites for the match while the West Indies can be backed at 13/10 (bet365/188BET/YOU WIN) for the victory.

The game Wednesday pitches Australia against New Zealand at Edgbaston. Australia lost their first game of the group against England by 48 runs while the Black Caps saw off Sri Lanka by one wicket in a low scoring thriller. Bookmakers though are making Australia the the 4/5 (sportingbet/BETVICTOR) favourites for the match while New Zealand can be backed at 6/5 (GENERAL). I think New Zealand must be a little bit of value in this game considering the way they are playing and the way Australia are struggling. Edgbaston is also not a kind venue to the Aussies who have not won a ODI here since May 1993.

Also worth considering is a bet in the highest opening partnership market where the New Zealand openers can be backed at 11/10 (bet365/SKYBET/STAN JAMES) to see off their Australian counterparts. David Warner is a player badly out of form with the bat and if he is handed the start here then look to get on the Black Caps pair.

Thursday sees England take on Sri Lanka at the Oval. England enter the game in good heart after winning the last one dayer against New Zealand and then starting their group campaign with a 48 run victory over their old rivals Australia. Sri Lanka had a nightmare with the bat in their opener putting on just 138 runs though they did some damage with the ball and almost bowled out the Black Caps for a similar total.

Bookmakers make England the 7/11 (888 SPORT) favourites for the game and they have a good record at this venue winning five of their last six ODI games here including a victory over Sri Lanka in June 2011. Sri Lanka can be backed at 11/8 (boylesports/paddy Power) to win this game.

The bet here might be to take Eoin Morgan to be the top England batsman at 7/1 (STAN JAMES). Morgan has an average of 54.00 in ODI games against Sri Lanka and he did get 49 against New Zealand in their third ODI game.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: New Zealand to beat Australia, 6/5 (GENERAL)
SILVER: Eoin Morgan to top score for England v Sri Lanka, 7/1 (STAN JAMES)
BRONZE: Ravindra Jadeja to top score for India v West Indies, 16/1 (SKYBET/SPREADEX)
