John Isner meets Sam Querrey in the quarter-finals of the Memphis Open tomorrow, their 2:30 match-up being a repeat of the 2010 final between the two countrymen. Querrey emerged victorious from this clash, bouncing back from losing the first set to seeing the match out 6-7, 7-6, 6-3. sportingbet have priced up the 27-year-old former champion at 13/2 to win the match following going a set down once again.

Indeed, it is Isner, ranked 23 places to the good of Querrey in the ATP world standings, who is the favourite to progress through to the final four. The Tampa, Florida-born star is currently available at 3/4 with sportingbet. Both bet365 and boylesports have the best price on a Querrey win, that being 5/4. He is the outsider in spite of having beaten his opponent in the previous final and on one other occasion, Querrey having only lost one of his three previous clashes with Isner.

All of these clashes came in 2010, the first being the Memphis final. Their second meeting came in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters, Isner taking that in straight sets 7-6, 6-4. The pair`s closing 2010 encounter came in the final of the Serbia Open in Belgrade, Querrey once again having to come back from losing the first set to secure the match-up 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.

Should the 6`6" Las Vegas resident pick up the win in the same style as his two previous victories, he will take tomorrow`s match in three sets. Bwin have priced this up at 17/4. Similarly, it is 9/5 with both 32red and unibet for Isner to claim his second consecutive straight sets win over Querrey.

There have been four tie-breaks in the players` three match-ups against each other. bet365 have 2/7 on their being a tie-break in the match tomorrow, whilst also having 5/2 on their not being a tie-break in the clash. The same bookmaker have odds of 8/11 on it not coming in the first set, with evens on a tie-break being played out in this opener. The prices on there being a tie-break in the second set read 8/13 (No) and6/5 (Yes) with Coral.

Isner needed a tie-break in the second set to see off Croatian contender Ivan Dodig in the second stage of the tournament. He eventually ran out the 6-4, 7-6 victor. It is 11/2 with boylesports on Isner taking the first set 6-4 against Querrey, whilst his opponent is 17/2 with the same bookmaker to defeat Isner by this score.

Unlike his opponent, Querrey has already played two matches in Memphis, putting both Benjamin Becker and fellow countryman 18-year-old Jared Donaldson to the sword.

Querrey failed to take the opening set against Becker, losing out 6-4 to the German but only dropped three games in the rest of the match, taking set two 6-2, and the final set 6-1. Donaldson was dispatched in straight sets, however, losing out 6-4, 6-1 to see the former winner progress.

As the world number 41 has a history of losing the opening set of the matches important in weighing up the odds of what is likely to happen tomorrow, it might be worth backing Isner at 3/4 with betway to claim the first set.

The markets available in terms of handicap betting include Isner starting the match on either -1.5 or -2, these being offered at prices of 10/11 (betfred) and 5/4 (bet365) respectively. Ten-to-eleven is also the price you can get with Querrey starting on +1.5 and on +2, both prices offered with bet365.
