The best bet in the Championship is in on taking on Leeds in a market BETVICTOR are running to finish as top Yorkshire side. The Elland Road side are 8/13 to finish top of this five team section which seems very short on a side with four defeats from their last five league games and are struggling under Brian McDermott.
Huddersfield are on the same amount of points as Leeds and are a 10/3 chance and you could even make a case for Doncaster at 11/2 as they are just two points behind the duo and are in the better form with just one loss from their last four games. Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday are the two remaining sides in the section and both of them are likely to be out of the mix as they are set for a season of struggle.
Speaking of a season of struggle Yeovil are the strong favourites to go down and are as short as 1/3 (bet365/ladbrokes) for the drop. Other sides expected to feature in the relegation battle are Barnsley and it is 5/6 (ladbrokes) that the Tykes go down. Sheffield Wednesday are 11/4 (GENERAL) chance while Charlton are 7/2 (SKYBET/BETVICTOR/BWIN) to go down. Also expected to have a long season of struggle are Millwall 4/1 (STAN JAMES), Doncaster 9/2 (GENERAL) and Birmingham at 5/1 (CORAL).
At the top of the table it is QPR who have most impressed me as they sit second with a game in hand and they are 11/10 (GENERAL) favourites for the title. Harry Redknapp has done a good job sorting through his squad and keeping what is needed and getting rid of those players just at the club to get the wages. I fancy the London side to win the title though the prices do not appeal especially as they could struggle for goals with an Austin injury. Watford seem to have picked up where they left off last season and they are 7/1 (GENERAL) for the championship while Forest (8/1-GENERAL), Leicester (9/1-GENERAL) and Reading (11/1-GENERAL) are all expected to be in the promotion mix. Burnley are the surprise leaders at the top of the Championship having won six and drawn one from their last seven league games. Sean Dyche has done a remarkable job at the club though at 14/1 the value has gone from the Clarets.
Jordan Rhodes is in my opinion the best player in the Championship and it is for this reason you should take him on in the topscorer market. The Blackburn man has nine goals this season and I will be shocked if Rovers can keep the player this January when the transfer window opens and a number of Premier League clubs come calling. I think then the 11/4 (paddy Power) is not a price I want to be involved with.
Another player I wish to avoid in the topscorer market is James Vaughan who like Rhodes has nine goals. The Huddersfield frontman has a history of injuries and as such I think it is a risk even at 6/1 (CORAL) to back him to get through the season unscathed. I like the look of Charlie Austin at 6/1 (GENERAL). The QPR frontman has five goals from his last five game and is playing for the best team in the division behind a midfield that is Premier League quality. Austin is a proven scorer at this level, full of confidence and does not seem to be at risk of a move in January.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Huddersfield to finish as top Yorkshire club, 10/3 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: Doncaster to finish as top Yorkshire Club, 11/2 (BETVICTOR)
BRONZE: Charlie Austin to finish as top goalscorer, 6/1 (GENERAL)
