In our first part of our guide to World Cup qualifying we look at European Groups A-E.
In Group A it is Belgium who sit on top five clear of Croatia and with a much better goal difference. The Belgians know they need to take just one point from their two remaining games and on Friday they take on Croatia. It is 29/20 (BETVICTOR) Croatia while the draw is 23/10 (STAN JAMES/888 SPORT/unibet) and Belgium are 11/5 (BETVICTOR).
The other game in the group on Friday sees Wales entertain Macedonia as the Welsh look to avenge a recent 2-1 loss when these sides met in Macedonia. I like the look of the 17/16 (888 SPORT/unibet) on both teams to score in this game. Only three European countries (San Marino, Faroe Islands and Andorra) have conceded more goals in qualifying in this campaign than Wales and they have kept a clean sheet in just one of their last 14 internationals.
Italy have already wrapped up Group B so that might explain why they are 21/10 (BETVICTOR) to win in Denmark on Friday night. The Danes are one of four sides with dreams of still coming second and might have their supporters at 7/5 (GENERAL). Armenia and Bulgaria are two other sides in the hunt for second slot and they meet in Armenia while the Czech Republic are away to Malta.
Germany need just one point from their next two games to land Group C (at home to the Republic of Ireland and away to Sweden). It is 2/11 (paddy Power) that the Germans beat a Republic side they destroyed 6-1 in the reverse fixture. Take the 7/4 (CORAL) on Mesut Ozil to score anytime as he has six in this qualifying campaign.
A big game in this group comes in the battle for second place as Sweden on 17 points take on Austria on 14 points. The Scandinavian side are the 8/11 (GENERAL) favourites for the game while Austria are 43/10 (888 SPORT/unibet) and the draw is a 29/10 (BETVICTOR/888 SPORT/unibet). A draw might be enough for the Austrians as Sweden have Germany in the last game while Austria have the Faroes and a slightly superior goal difference. Austria did beat Sweden when these sides met in Vienna so it might be worth a little interest on them with a 0.5 start on the Asian Handicap at 23/18 (188 BET). This bet will pay out on an Austria victory and the draw.
Group D is all done and dusted at the top with the Netherlands having eased through qualification with a record of seven wins and one defeat from their eight games so far. The battle though is for second spot with three teams still in the hunt.
It is Hungary who have the advantage currently with 14 points just one ahead of Turkey and Romania. Hungary though have a difficult game away to the Netherlands on Friday while Romania are in Andorra and Turkey are at Estonia.
Group E is the widest open of all the groups with five sides still hoping to occupy one of the top two slots. Switzerland are five points clear on 18 points and seem most likely to finish top as they are ahead of Iceland on 13, Slovenia on 12, Albania on 11 and Norway on 10.
