Poles can keep qualifying hopes alive in Ukraine

Russia currently sit top of Group F with a one point advantage over Portugal with two games remaining. The Russians have two away games to secure their place in the next round starting this Friday away to Luxembourg and then away to Azerbaijan. These two sides sit bottom of the group so it would be a shock if Fabio Capello and his men slip up.

If they do then Portugal are waiting in the wings as they have home games with Israel and Luxembourg. Israel have slim hopes of a second placed finish if they were to beat Portugal and then Northern Ireland while Portugal would need to slip up at home to Luxembourg.

The best bet in this group could be in the game between Luxembourg and Russia where Aleksandr Kokorin looks value at evens (boylesports) to score at anytime which looks decent on a player who has scored three goals in two games. Kokorin netted twice against Luxembourg last time these sides met and has eight in his last eight in all competitions.

In Group G it is a battle between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Greece as to who will finish on top and who will finish second. Both sides are on 19 points but it is the former who have a much superior goal difference. Greece then must win both games they have remaining (at home to Slovakia and Liechtenstein) and hope that Bosnia slip up in one of their two fixtures (home to Liechtenstein and away to Lithuania).

I think it has to be worth an interest in the 7/4 (BETVICTOR) are offering on the time of the first goal to be after the 27th minute. Liechtenstein are no longer the whipping boys of World football having conceded just 11 times in their last seven games. True they lost 8-1 to Bosnia last time these sides met but the stakes are different this time with the pressure on the hosts. This bet then would have been a success in six of the last seven Liechtenstein games.

England hold the advantage in Group H on 16 points from Ukraine and Montenegro on 15 points and Poland are on 13 points. Up first for England on Friday night is a game with Montenegro at Wembley and the home side are 4/11 (GENERAL) for victory while the draw (which was the result when these sides met last time) is a 4/1 (GENERAL) chance and a Montenegro victory is 9/1 (SPREADEX).

Those looking for a bet in the game might want to consider the YES in the both teams to score market which can be backed at 6/5 (GENERAL). England have kept clean sheets in just two of their last seven home games (with these coming against San Marino and Moldova). The other match that affects England is the battle between Ukraine and Poland and it might be worth taking the Poles to get something from this game. I think the gap between these sides is not as big as the prices suggest and the Poles look worth taking on the Asian Handicap with a 0.5 start. This will pay out on a Poland victory or an a drawn game and is available at 19/17 with 188 BET.

In Group I Spain and France are both level on 14 points though the Spaniards have the slightly better goal difference and crucially have only played six games to the seven France have played. Spain should have few problems winning home games with Belarus and Georgia. France then are likely to have to settle for second spot and a place in the play-offs.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Poland +0.5 on Asian Handicap v Ukraine, 19/17 (188 BET)
SILVER: Aleksandr Kokorin to score anytime v Luxembourg, evens (boylesports)
BRONZE: First goal in Liechtenstein and Bosnia to come after 27th minute, 7/4 (BETVICTOR)
