The first Milan derby of the season kicks off on Sunday evening when rivals Inter and AC Milan go head to head in the Derby della Madonnina in Lombardy.

New look squads

Both teams made a number of changes in the summer with large sums of money being invested on both sides. With only two games played so far, it is impossible to predict what effect the new recruits will have on their league ambitions but Inter have set an early marker with two straight wins.

With last year’s champions Juventus suffering two defeats, the Nerazzurri will be keen to maintain the six point gap heading into week three.

As well as some new players, AC Milan also have a new coach at the helm having drafted in Siniša Mihajlović as a replacement for Filippo Inzaghi.

After a season to forget in which both teams missed out on Europe and finished outside of the top seven, improvement will be demanded from supporters on both sides this term. A victory against their fiercest rivals would certainly help the cause.

Team news

With so many new recruits on both sides, predicting the line-ups could be tricky for the first half dozen games. For Inter, Stefan Jovetic and Mauro Icardi can be expected to lead the line with Perisic supporting, while the red and black attack will be spearheaded by Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano.

Jonathan Biabany remains a doubt for Inter along with central defender Miranda who received a blow to the knee while playing for Brazil. On the other bench, Jeremy Menez is expected to miss out along with Luca Antonelli, M’Baye Niang and Andrea Bertolacci.
